Noumea is the largest city in and capital of New Caledonia, lying on the main island of Grande Terre.
Nouméa, the modern capital of New Caledonia, is also called “the Ocean of Paris”. Noumea has restaurants, cinemas and theaters, but also city gardens and parks. Small boutiques selling the most beautiful clothes of the most expensive European fashion houses. But there are also major department stores and ‘designer’ outlets. 1. La Chute de la Madeleine
This botanical garden is situated in the Plaine des Lacs and near the Parc de la Rivière Bleue. Here you can find 168 plant species and flora!
2. Le Mont-Dore
Le Mont-Dore, the region south of Noumea. The region has an area of 643 square kilometers and has nearly 25,000 inhabitants. There are farms and plantations in this region. This region is little visited by tourists.
3. Parc de la Rivière Bleue
This 9045 acre forest reserve is a paradise full of flora and fauna that are native to this area. The park features swimming spots, picnic areas and numerous hiking trails. The giant Kaori, which is 40 meters high and nearly a thousand years old, is one of the attractions of the park.
