Accommodation in Poipu
Kauai’s South Shore is home to some of the country’s best beaches—for swimming, diving and all sorts of water sports. If sunbathing on a gorgeous beach isn’t relaxing enough, try a spa (where many treatments incorporate local ingredients). And if you’re in Poipu for a romantic escape, splurge on an oceanview room—the sunsets are spectacular.
Poipu has been called Kauaii’s playground for it is twelve miles (a leisurely thirty minutes by car) from Lihue, the capital of Kauai and offers visitors all the ingredients for a perfect holiday. There you will find gourmet cuisine, shopping, golf, a host of watersports and affordable accommodation. Poipu has the best beaches on Kaua’i (once named America’s best beach) which are protected by a necklace of offshore reefs. It is also one of the safest beaches on the island.
Just a mile from the resort is sailing, diving, deep sea fishing and glass-bottom boat tours departing daily from Kukui’ula Harbor. It the winter months (December through to May) it is not uncommon to spot humpback whales of the shore. Large honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles) and endangered Hawaiian monk seal are sometimes spotted taking in the sun on the shore.
With perfect weather just about all year round, it’s no wonder Poipu is called “The Sunny South Side.” Poipu is your one-stop-shop for all things Poipu– find a place to stay, a new restaurant, the best souvenirs, the happening hotspots, or recommendations on family-friendly activities.
