| Located on the edge of Erakor Lagoon,
Vila Chaumieres offers a tranquil retreat in a garden setting of coconut
palms, frangipani, hibiscus and exotic tropical ferns and plants. Only 5
minutes by bus or car from the capital of Vanuatu, Port Vila, the hotel
offers the perfect base for exploring this lovely little town with its
interesting history of colonial French and British administration and
wealth of Melanesian culture.
The owners of the property first visited Vanuatu
during a Pacific yacht voyage twenty years ago, and promptly fell in love
with the country and its friendly and interesting people. Five years later
they found the ideal setting for an intimate and friendly resort catering
to discerning adults looking for an escape from the stress of today's busy
world. To ensure the peace and privacy of our guests we do not accommodate
children under the age of 16.
Accommodation is in large
comfortably furnished garden bungalows with separate double bedroom and
spacious living area with a single divan, or more luxurious rooms with
queen size bed and large balconies over- looking the lagoon.

The highlight is the restaurant, with tables on

in outrigger canoes or feed the fish, in a fairy tale setting. Dining
under a starlit sky protected by a local thatched roof with coconut palms
reflected in the floodlit waters, or on the lushly planted garden terrace
is a truly magical experience, enhanced by the excellent food and service.

best coconut crab in Vila.
Prior to dining enjoy a delicious tropical
cocktail or icy cold beer from our well stocked bar, or paddle a canoe or
pedalo to work up an appetite for dinner. Our friendly staff are on hand
to help you make your stay enjoyable, whether it is with canoe instruction
or helping to plan your next day's activities. Complimentary transport to
town is available each morning by arrangement, and a card phone is
available in a private area where you can keep in touch with home
economically and conveniently. |
