Milee Sea Bungalows

Milee Sea Bungalows are perched on a cliff overlooking the sea. The active volcanoes Mt. Marum and Mt. Benbow are half a day away, offering their unique lakes of boiling lava. There are active custom villages in the area where as everywhere in Ambrym, carvers are at work.

The Accommodation is comprised of 5 bungalows built of local material, each having a double or twin beds. Lighting is with kerosene lamps and candles (take a torch if you like reading in bed). Shared showers (with hot water) and toilets are installed in a separate block.

Milee offers a fixed menu, with simple cuisine made of local products. Take drinks with you (except beer & soft drinks). Millee organizes your picnic when you climb up the volcano.

All tours are conducted by a local guide speaking bislama and some english. Good walking boots are recommended to climb up the volcano.

• Hot Springs at the sea: Short tour (1 1/2 hour) to visit the hot springs which come out of the ground into the sea, testimony to the volcanic activity of the area.
• Day tour to the Volcano: After taking a local truck, climb the rugged slopes of Mt Benbow (1159m.) in approximately 4 hours of average bushwalking. On the crater's edge, you will be able to look straight into a lake of red boiling lava 200m wide. Mt Marum is then only 1km away and offers a similar breathtaking sight. An unforgettable excursion that may offer you fantastic views over the islands in fair weather.
• Meltunga custom dance half day tour: This tour will enable you to discover the famous custom dances, magic and sand drawing of the Ambrym people. The custom village has some of the most interesting carvings in Vanuatu. Some areas have their access restricted for women.
• Nature walk and gardens: This half day tour takes you to the well-tendered gardens of the village. En route, you will stop and visit local houses and discover village activities.
• Lava tubes: Short tour allowing you to visit some lava tubes, which have created caves and curious geophysical structures .
• Bottom fishing half day tour: Charter one of our local fishing boats and spend half a day bottom fishing for delicious poulet-fish or reef fish, barbecued on the beach, shoud you have success (maximum 4 persons).CCVMS11-Full day Nature walk to Megapods birds: This full day tour enables you to walk through some spectacular bush and landscapes to attain the area where Megapod birds can still be observed.
