Jim invites you aboard his fast, comfortable 42 ft cruising yacht to explore Vanuatu's volcanic islands Anchor off a beach at night under the glow of a live volcano. Sleep on deck in your bathers under the sun or stars. Eat sugar cane cut fresh from a jungle garden. Swim or snorkel among clouds of tropical fish. See traditional ceremonies and learn about sailing and navigation and being part of the crew. MONDAY - Leave Port Vila at 10.00am for a two and half hour sail to Paul Rock where we stop for a snorkel. This is a sea mount in crystal clear water teaming with clouds of colourful fish. After lunch it's a two hour sail on to Havannah Harbour where we stay the night. This is the home of a school of dolphins and many dugong and turtles. TUESDAY - Three hour sail to Utanlang Village Nguna Island which has a classical dormant volcanic crater. Time out for a swim, walk ashore and in the evening a Melanesian Feast in the village. Time to try Vanuatu's kava reputed to be the strongest in the Pacific! WEDNESDAY &endash; Sail down the coast of Nguna to anchor in the clear blue water off a white sand beach on Pele Island. Visit a magnificent nakamal, one of the best traditional buildings I have seen in Vanuatu. THURSDAY- Leave Pele for Moso Island a two hour downwind sail. Anchor off a deserted beach, fantastic colours in the shallow water over the reef. There is an easy walk over the Island to Sunai Village. This is a proposed site for a new town &endash; 5 hotels 500 condos, supermarkets, deep water port etc etc. Only a dream I hope! FRIDAY - Leave Moso for a two hour sail to Hat Island where we anchor for lunch and a swim. After lunch we set off on a 3 hour sail around Devil's Point and return to Vila at 4pm. |
