Rental
Cars are only available on the mainisland Efate.
There is an Avis Rent a Car office
at Baurfield International Airport and Le Meridien Resort, open from
7:30am to 5:00pm seven days a week. A delivery charge of VT300 applies
for all pickups and deliveries to all areas except the airport (applies
to rentals of less than three days). If paying in cash, a cash deposit
will be required. American Express, Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
There is a minimum 1 day (24hr) rental and an
hourly rate of 1/5th the day rate applies after that. Each car is
supplied with a full tank of petrol and has to be returned the same way.
Expect to pay around VT1500 per day for Collision Damage Waiver.
If you intend to travel
all the way around the island you should hire a 4WD. Budget
is the only one who has a selection. Conventional
cars shouldn't attempt the round island trip.
