Chile
South (The Lakes Region)
It includes the regions of Bío - Bío, Araucanía and part of Los Lagos (eighth, ninth and tenth regions). This area is one of the most heterogeneous according to the landscape and activities to carry out. Including a climate increasingly more humid, the land is covered by thick woods and many lakes.

The ski center Termas de Chillan, is located at the east of Chillan, on the foothills of the volcano bearing the same name, it certainly is a touristic focus of the country and the area. Going to the south, near the coast, Concepcion city, industrial and timber center, is the capital of the region, and the second city of the country, considering its size and importance

The Salto del Laja waterfall, which can be seen from the South 5 highway, is considered as the entrance to the south of Chile. Farther to the east, towards the mountain range, in the Laguna del Laja National Park, the Antuco Volcano is one more destination for ski lovers.

Temuco city, capital of the ninth region, located in the middle of Araucanía, is one of the fastest - growing cities of the continent. Towards the north-east, with the Llaima Volcano in the middle, we find the spectacular Conguillio National Park, also called ‘de los paraguas’, due to its unmistakable and millenarian araucaria woods. To the north, there is another protected zone, the Tolhuaca National Park.

Towards the southeast, the touristic center formed by Villarrica and Pucon, along the lake bearing the same name as the first city, offer all the possible alternatives to have fun and rest. El Villarrica-Pucon Ski Center, is an excellent possibility for those who love winter sports.

The Huerquehue National Park, with its numberless lagoons and thick vegetation, and for those who like the healing capacities of thermal waters, there are plenty of alternatives, such as Termas de Huife, worth to consider.

Going to the south, Valdivia is the door to the remains of the Spanish fortresses in Niebla and Corral (towards the river outlet), and the Riñihue, Ranco and Maihue lakes (the last one located to the east).

Osorno is the axis of a mainly agricultural and cattling area, on one hand. On the other hand, it is the starting point to visit places as beautiful as Rupanco Lake, Puyehue National Park or Antillanca Ski Center, located on the foothills of Casablanca volcano, between the limits of the mentioned park.
