| A
city of about 70,000 people in the near south or about 340 miles from
Santiago, it lies on the banks of the Quilque river. Founded in 1739 it is
now an agricultural center with a strong emphasis on dairy products. It is
just to the north of the lake country but not actually "Lake
Country".
It is on Panamericana, as is almost everything
else in Chile, and has very limited and spotty air service. It is a nice
little agricultural town, just like "LA"(California) give or
take 7 million people. It is located only 89Km from the ski area of Antuco
