Accommodation in Kadavu
The southernmost main island of Fiji is Kadavu. The island is known for its unspoiled nature, beautiful beaches and beautiful coral reefs. You will find striking rugged mountains, rainforest, waterfalls, lakes, sea cliffs, caves and traditional villages.
On the island live rare red green parrots. On the isolated beaches nesting turtles. On the island is only one mammal, the Tonga Flying Fox (Pteropus tongue anus), and even that is uncertain. 75% of the island is covered with tropical rainforest.
The main attraction of Kadavu is the Great Astrolabe Reef, one of the best dive sites in the Pacific. The reef is located northeast of the island.
The main town of Kadavu is Vunisea, located on a flat strip of land that connects the mountainous eastern and western parts together. In Vunisea is the airstrip and a small harbor which is the only gateway to Kadavu. The island of Kadavu has hardly any roads and can therefore best be explored onfoot or by water taxi. The flight from Nadi to Kadavu takes about 1 hour.
