Oregon
Lincoln City
There’s no avoiding LINCOLN CITY if you’re driving; probably the ugliest town on the Oregon coast, it sprawls along the highway for seven congested, motel-lined miles. In the unlikely event you decide to stay, there’s plenty of cheap accommodation to choose from – the visitor center, on US-101 (tel 541/994-8378 or 1-800/452-2151), has the full list. For somewhere to eat, the Bay House, 5911 SW US-101 (tel 541/996-3222), does fine seafood in a Northwestern style and great desserts.
