Santa Clara Valley ("Silicon Valley")

Campbell
Once the center of fruit orchards for the Santa Clara Valley, Campbell is now a bedroom community of houses and apartments. 

Cupertino

Cupertino, which rests up against the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west, is home to high-tech industry (including Macintosh computers) and De Anza College.

Los Gatos

This well-heeled community on the fringes of San Jose has a sophisticated downtown area of upscale shops and quiet hillside neighborhoods.

Milpitas

Sucked into the hills adjacent to the Ventana Wilderness and Fort Hunter Liggett Military Reservation, Milpitas is a growing suburb of San Jose.

Mountain View 

This industrial and manufacturing town got its name from the Santa Cruz Mountains just to the west; to the east is Moffett Field, a naval air station.

Saratoga

Saratoga is a well-to-do community in the foothills west of San Jose with several impressive community gardens. The town is also the gateway to the parks and hiking trails of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Sunnyvale

With hundreds of hardware and software companies in and around Sunnyvale, the city is the computing heart of the Silicon Valley. That claim is bolstered by the existence of the Sunnyvale Center for Innovation, Invention, and Ideas, which conducts high-tech patent and trademark research.
