| TRANSFER
BETWEEN TERMINALS: A
courtesy shuttle, known as the 'Red Bus', provides regular, free
transportation between all terminals; all of the shuttles are equipped
with a wheelchair lift.
INFORMATION AND HELP DESKS: Airport Ambassadors staff Traveler's Aid desks and provide assistance throughout Terminals 1 and 2. AIRPORT FACILITIES: Money and communications: Bureau de change counters are located on the ground floor level of Terminal 1 in front of the United Airlines ticket counter and in Terminal 2 East near gate 23; customers may also send faxes, make photocopies, transfer/receive money, receive notary service and buy travel insurance, travellers cheques and telephone debit cards here. An ATM is located at the Terminal 1 central food court and there are several ATMS on the second floor of Terminal 2. Eating and drinking: A variety of snack bars and restaurants are available at each of the three terminals. Shopping: There are a variety of shops in all three terminals but there are no duty-free shops at the airport. DISABLED FACILITIES: There are lifts and at least one TDDY phone in each terminal. Toilets are fully physically accessible and there are visual paging terminals for the hearing impaired. CONFERENCE AND BUSINESS FACILITIES: On the third floor of the commuter terminal there are various conference and meeting rooms which can accommodate up to 40 people. CAR HIRE: Numerous car hire companies - including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz and National - have off-airport facilities nearby which can be accessed by boarding the car hire shuttles from the Transportation Plazas in front of each terminal. The car hire companies may be contacted at the Ground Transportation Service Board located in the baggage reclaim areas of each terminal. CAR PARKING: Cars can be left in on-site car parks for between 30 minutes and 30 days. Off-site parking is provided at a number of locations nearby, including Park & Ride (tel: 619 295 2832) and Park, Shuttle & Fly (tel: 888 955 PARK). Disabled parking spaces are available. DRIVING DIRECTIONS: The airport is served by I-5 with connections to Route 163, I-8 and I-15. From I-5 northbound, take the San Diego Airport/Hawthorn Street exit; follow signs onto westbound Hawthorn Street, continue to North Harbor Drive and turn right for the airport. From I-5 southbound, take the San Diego Airport/Sassafras Street exit onto Kettner Boulevard and turn right at the traffic lights at Sassafras Street, then left at the next lights onto Pacific Highway. Turn right at Laurel Street and right again at the next lights (North Harbor Drive) for the airport. PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Water: Ship: Passengers with cruise reservations are met at the airport by cruise ship representatives. Road: Taxi: Taxi and shuttle bus services to hotels and central San Diego destinations are available from the central transportation plaza. Bus: Buses leave from outside each terminal. AIRPORT HOTELS: Hotel/motel reservation boards can be found in the baggage reclaim areas in each of the three terminals. There are no hotels within the airport grounds, but the Sheraton Harbor Island Hotel is located directly opposite the airport and Quality Inn Airport/Seaworld is nearby. |
