Mauri Paradise Resort
This resort is situated at Buariki village in North Tarawa just a few yards from the edge of a very peaceful lagoon. There is no electricity in this part of the island. The resort is about one and a half hours by boat from the main towns of South Tarawa.
The resort is situated in the middle of a small peaceful village on Tarawa. It is perfectly made in the Kiribati traditional style. The village people use traditional skills in their daily life and they are very nice and friendly. Although the village has no electric power, telephone, or water systems, there is a small generator that works for the refrigerator.
A professional Japanese chef cooks the meals. Freshly caught seafood and traditional Kiribati foods are prepared daily. (You may catch them.) About 90 minutes from main town by our boat. As many as 8 guests may stay at the resort at one time (4 twin lodges). We can arrange to meet you at the airport upon your arrival in Tarawa.
We will introduce you to a real nature underwater world. An experienced PADI instructor or Divemaster will be your tour guide for safety. Facilities include: one diving boat (about 15 pax), a set of scuba diving equipment (4 pax). The boat departs to unspoiled ocean from just in front of the resort.
Activities
Besides the dive tours, the resort also offers traditional activities such
as fishing and the taste of local cigarettes and alcohol. Kiribati
cultural skills Kiribati instructors can show you traditional skills which
you will be able to try. They will teach you different kinds of fishing,
and how to make a basket, fan, or mat with coconut leaves, and a variety
of other traditional skills.
