tranquil views of the Pacific and the chance to relax while basking in the

Scuba pool.
-
Hibiscus Pool: The
4,850 square foot Hibiscus Pool is named for the giant mosaic tile
Hibiscus flower which graces the bottom. The Hibiscus flower is made
from over 630,000 pieces of Mexican glass mosaic tile. The entire pool
contains over 2.2 million individual tiles, and features two Jacuzzis.
This pool is reserved for guests 16 years of age and older.
- Wailea Canyon Pools: This

gallon pool consists of nine free-form pools at six levels, beginning

Gardens |
There is no question why
the readers of Gourmet magazine recently voted the gardens at the Grand
Wailea Resort the second best in the world. Featuring flora both native to
Hawaii and imported from all over the globe, the resort's elaborate
gardens include 52 types of trees, including over 20 varieties of plumeria
trees and more than 2000 palms, 50 varieties of bromeliads, 20 varieties
of hibiscus, 30 species of native Hawaiian plants and 6 species of grass.
-
North Hawaiian Garden:
The North Hawaiian Garden represents a tropical rainforest
mountainside. At the top rests Kincha Japanese restaurant, surrounded
by a large koi pond that is fed by waterfalls erupting out of 800 tons
of granite rocks imported from Mount Fuji. The garden's winding
sidewalk takes you through mass plantings of gingers, spider lilies
and heliconias. Towering palms overlook the rushing streams outlined
in waves of luaue fern. Hale (thatch roof huts) with benches offer a
resting spot for those wishing to sit and simply enjoy the
surroundings. The North Hawaiian Garden drops over fifty feet in
elevation with its ponds, streams and waterfalls spilling into the
Chapel Garden.
- Chapel Garden: Our Wailea Seaside
Chapel floats on a koi pond, its water originating at the top of the
North Hawaiian Garden. This enchanting and quaint garden is also our
most formal. Displays of annual flowering plants, hibiscus, false
heather, stately trees and beautiful gazebos make this garden a
perfect setting for a wedding. The lush lawns in Chapel Garden and
along our beachfront are composed of seashore paspalum, a unique
variety of grass that is extremely tolerant of salt water.
- Refection Garden: The Reflection Garden
is probably the most photographed area of the resort. It is composed
of the Reflecting Pool, bordered by lush green lawns and two rows of
stately royal palms, as well as flowering annuals. Edward Brownlee's
"Nai'a Kauhulu," or "Gathering of Dolphins,"
sculpture, complete with shooting water, highlights the end of the
Reflecting Pool, which flows into our formal and elegant Hibiscus
Pool.
- Tropical Fruit Garden: This unique
fruit garden, boasting Asian citrus, Arabian coffee and Central
American cacao, is pesticide free and guests are welcome to pick
themselves a tasty tropical snack. The fruit collection includes
mango, starfruit, ruby red grapefruit, lychee, guava, acerola,
cherimoya and jaboticaba and South Pacific breadfruit.
- South Hawaiian Garden: The South
Hawaiian Garden is one of our most traveled gardens. Its water
originates from the lobby atrium and travels from rapids to ponds.
These ponds are filled with koi, box turtles and irises. The garden
contains aromatic plants and an extensive collection of palms and
trees, and is adorned with artistic sculptures and hale (thatch roof
huts), complete with benches and swings, offering a shady retreat. The
lower part of the garden features a collection of 15 varieties of
heliconias and shade loving palms.
- Haleakala Garden: Located directly
outside of the Haleakala Ballroom, the highlight of the Haleakala
Garden is the Dripping Wall, featuring a beautiful display of dripping
water, orchids, ferns and bromeliads. The dripping water falls slowly
from a recreated ancient lava flow into pools of still water, creating
a tranquil setting. The top of the wall is lined with plumerias,
gingers and travellers palms.
