Hawaiian Airlines connects these beautiful
islands of our home with over 140 daily all-jet flights as well as
award-winning transpacific service from major West Coast cities and beyond
to the South Pacific.
As Hawaii’s oldest
and largest airline, we are truly the wings of the islands.
Service Concept Mea Ho'okipa,
the name of our service concept, literally translated means "I am
host." This sentiment inspires everything we do at Hawaiian Airlines,
because it's our nature and our heritage.
Drawing on more than
70 years of serving Islanders and visitors alike, Mea Ho`okipa puts
emphasis on the warm and friendly caring of our people. It invites you to
learn our Hawaiian history and traditions from people who live them. In
its unique approach to hospitality, Mea Ho`okipa is the essence of
the Islands themselves.
Onboard Services Magazine was so impressed with Mea
Ho`okipa that it presented Hawaiian with its highest honor, the
Diamond Inflight Service Award.
As we like to say, Hawaii is everywhere Hawaiian
flies. In addition to our award-winning interisland service, you'll find
Hawaiian hospitality on all our flights to and from the mainland and South
Pacific. Your vacation begins the moment you board Hawaiian Airlines!
Hawaiian Interisland Flights
Each of the Hawaiian Islands offers its own special charm. To experience
all Hawaii has to offer, at an affordable price, we recommend visitors try
the Hawaiian Airpass.
The Hawaiian Airpass system is specially designed
for
international visitors. You purchase coupons, for each flightsegment one
coupon. There are two types of coupons, depending on the airport you fly
to or from.
Trans Pacific Flights
More than
68 years ago, we started as Inter-Island Airways, inaugurating Hawaii's
first scheduled interisland passenger flights on November 11, 1929.
Then, more than a decade ago, we thought we'd carry our truly Hawaiian
service to cities on the West Coast.
We inaugurated nonstop service to Los Angeles on June 12, 1985. Service
to Las Vegas began in July of the same year, and San Francisco, Seattle,
and Portland service followed in January 1986.
We now have nonstop widebody DC-10 flights three times daily between
Honolulu and Los Angeles, once daily to San Francisco, Portland, and
Seattle, and daily flights to Las Vegas via Los Angeles.
Average flight time between our West Coast cities and Honolulu is five
hours.
Hawaiian was presented the coveted President's Award for Innovation in
Coach Class Service at IFSA's annual worldwide convention held April 9,
1997 in Vancouver, BC. "The Hawaiian Experience," Hawaiian's service
concept offered on flights between the West Coast and Hawaii, as judged
superior for its sensory approach to providing passengers with a
distinctly "Hawaiian" travel experience. This honor follows two 1996
World Airline Entertainment Association Avion Awards for excellence in
cultural on-board audio programming and the 1995 OnBoard Services Award
for innovation and excellence in First Class service.

South Pacific Flights
We began our service to Pago Pago, American Samoa in October 1984, using
200-seat DC-8 aircraft. Now, you can fly between Honolulu and Pago Pago
every Monday or Friday, nonstop on a widebody DC-10 aircraft.
We also fly nonstop to Papeete, Tahiti on Saturdays and return from
Tahiti to Honolulu on Sundays.
Average flight time between Honolulu and either of our South Pacific
destinations is five hours.
