Hawaii is a quite large island group.
As the roads quite good, save and specially on the outer islands there is only little
traffic. It
makes good touring with a rental car in Hawaii. We offer cars from Dollar Rent a
Car
on the five main islands (Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Big Island and
Molokai). Best is to pick up the car from the airport when you arrive on
the island. You will receive for each island a separate driving magazine
with detailed maps and directions.
There are so many beautiful places to enjoy in
Hawaii, you will find you want to stay longer. The roads are wide and well
marked. There is right hand traffic like everywhere in the United States.
Traffic rules are pretty similar to those in Europe, but you may notice
some differences as well. For instance at the freeway between Honolulu
Airport and Waikiki (Nimitz Highway) you "keep your lane"
instead of the European way of "keeping right". Take a valid
European Driving License with you. You'll notice road signs with "Bugle
up, its the law", that means use your safety belts at all time.
