Surrounded
by mountains and tropical greenery with a pristine white sand beach as its
threshold, the Sofitel Ia Ora graces the beautiful island of Moorea just
ten minutes by plane from Tahiti.
The
resort comprises 110 Polynesian style bungalows, nestled among 35 acres of
tropical greenery and along 500 metres of private beach bordering Moorea's
famous lagoon.
All
bungalows feature Polynesian furnishings, ceiling fans, mini-bar, private
bathroom with shower, laundry service, and IDD telephones.
The
new air-conditioned overwater bungalows are built of teak in traditional
fare style and have a private sundeck with a ladder to go into the lagoon.
There is a 'see through' table to observe the fish and the lagoon below is
lit for those who wish to make night time aquatic visits.
Guests
receive a wonderful introduction to the culture and history of the island
through a whole array of delightful activities. For instance, there are
three different Polynesian music and dance shows throughout the week to
complement the barbecue on Tuesday, the seafood buffet on Thursday, and
the Polynesian buffet on Saturday. There are also demonstrations of pareos,
pareo dyeing, and dancing, as well as garland braiding, flower basket
weaving, and crab racing.
The
open-air La Perouse restaurant also provides a traditional Tahitian show
performed on a floating stage while dinner guests savour the delights of
international and Polynesian cuisine.
Nature's
treasures at your doorstep...
With
an array of complimentary resort activities that include two tennis courts,
volleyball, a solarium over the lagoon, snorkelling, outrigger canoes, and
windsurfing, even the most ardent pleasure seeker will be impressed.
Sports
enthusiasts can further indulge themselves with optional activities such
as scuba diving, jet skiing, deep-sea fishing and bicycling.
The
resort's excursion desk can also arrange any number of activities from
mountain safaris, waterfall tours by jeep, glass-bottom boat trips, and
plane tours, to an island tour by bus which the locals call 'Le Truck'.
Other
facilities and services include a pearl boutique, currency exchange, car
rental, and safety deposit boxes. Beautiful wedding ceremonies are held in
the resort's chapel.
For
couples with children, one child under the age of twelve may stay free of
charge in your bungalow.
Whether
you are seeking an activity-filled holiday or a peaceful escape in
nature's tropical perfection, the Sofitel Ia Ora has something for
everyone.
