Taveuni
Island Resort offers the ultimate tropical island experience...romantic,
luxurious accommodation, candlelit gourmet island dining and smiling
friendly people. It is intimate and relaxed, delighting the diver and
island lover alike. This
superb resort is owned and operated by a New Zealand couple - Rick and Do
Cammick. Nestled in seven acres of beautifully landscaped flower gardens,
bordered by white sand beaches, overlooking the new cliff top pool and the
crystal clear aqua blue waters of the Somosomo Straits are six modern
hexagonal 'Bures' (houses), accommodating 12 guests in unsurpassed luxury. The
bures are of native Taveuni wood and warmly decorated with tiled floors,
floral arrangements and watercolour paintings. There are king sized beds,
comfortable furniture, wet bar, refrigerator and unlimited hot water for
your comfort. Ventilation comes from louvred windows and a ceiling fan,
while the verandah is ideal for relaxing and taking in the wonderful views
across the straits. In keeping with the ambience of the resort, dining is intimate and charming on The Deck. Gourmet chefs prepare Fijian and continental dishes garnished with organically grown salads, herbs and vegetables. All meals are included in the daily tariff with beer, wine and cocktails extra. The ultimate diving and holiday experience... |

The
Somosomo Straits, off the coast of Taveuni, attracts divers from all over the
world because of the spectacular soft coral afforded by the world famous Rainbow
Reef that stretches for nearly 20 miles. Led
by Ric Cammick, Taveuni Island Resort is a highly experienced operation providing
excellent scuba diving services for both novice and experienced divers. Professionally
trained dive guides will take you to more than two dozen spectacular sites such
as the legendary Great White Wall, Cabbage Patch, Blue Ribbon Eel Reef, the
Pinnacle, and the Ledge, in their forty foot twin-hulled catamaran custom
designed for diving. A
typical dive day involves a morning and afternoon dive with lunch served en
route in the tranquillity of a quiet bay or secluded beach. On your return,
there is still time for a late afternoon swim, snorkelling, beachcombing and
birdwatching, or even a waterfall tour or a trip to the rainforest, before
pre-dinner cocktails. With
all this, it isn't difficult to understand why Taveuni Island Resort gained the
1994 Award by Readers Choice as one of the 'Top Five' and the 1995 Award as one
of the 'Top Two' resorts in the Pacific by Rodales Scuba Diving Magazine (US). |
