| Domestic flights in Fiji
Sunfower Airlines |
|
| Sunflower Airlines has been an integral part of Fiji's tourism industry for more than 15 years, helping it grow and opening new destinations in the process. These now service the needs of many markets, including visitors to 5 star luxury, family, budget and special interest Resorts, corporate and business travelers and those visiting friends and relatives. There are more than 330 Islands in the Fiji group, and nearly an equal number of places that visitors can stay. | |

With an estimated 55 to 60 percent of travelers choosing Sunflower Airlines, the company carries more passengers, travels more passenger-kilometers and realizes greater returns than any other domestic carrier in the region. |
| While Sunflower began in
1981 in response to the needs of tourist travelers, the airline now
carries about 60 percent visitors and 40 percent local people. This mix
has proved very successful, as many passenger services would otherwise be
uneconomical if catering only to one side of the market.

| The airline's main hub is Nadi
International Airport, where it offers connections to and from
international air services. Its second hub is Nausori Airport which is
increasing in importance as an international destination.
Sunflower Airlines operates scheduled flights between 12 destinations. The company has 14 aircraft, a staff of 140 people, regional offices in Honolulu, Los Angeles, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland, and has an annual turnover nearing F$15 million. |

In short, Sunflower has come a long way from the single aircraft flown by
owner Don Collingwood that fed tourists to Malololailai and Taveuni 15
years ago. This progress can be linked to the expanding interest in new
tourism destinations and the requirement for new services and aircraft.
Profile Last year the company recorded 190,000 passengers, which was a 17 percent increase over the previous year. In addition, charter requests have tripled in the last 5 years. The years 1996 and 1997 were a crucial time for the airline. |

It was time to consolidate past successes and make significant investments in the form of new aircraft, information technology and other forms of strategic marketing. We believe that Sunflower Airlines has the necessary structure and proactive approach that is required to take Fiji's tourism product into the next century. |
| The company has been
recognized by Industry in the receipt of awards for marketing (1996 Air
New Zealand Award for Multi Media, 1997 Air New Zealand Award for Best
Brochure) and industry service (1997 Fiji Dive Operators Award for
Development of Domestic Air Travel in Fiji, and the 1998 Excellence in
Tourism Award from the National Tourism Forum of Fiji.).
