Most of the reefs of this area have never seen a diver and probably never will. The area is too vast and offers too much.  The nearby reefs of Savusavu and Namenalala have superb diving with a great choice of sites offering an underwater wonderland which has made Fiji famous: walls, caves, overhangs soft and hard corals, reef fish and pelagic fish - this has it all.
The diving is less demanding in Savusavu Bay but becomes dramatic on the outer side of the barrier reef, which sweeps up the coast to Somosomo Strait dividing Vanua Levu and Taveuni.

Large mushroom-shaped corals underneath which you can often see small reef sharks. Upcurrent end has good flow and huge aggregations of reef fish and larger pelagic life. 3. 4. Mystery Reef: An isolated reef scattered with coral heads covered in multi-colored soft corals, spanish mackerels, coral trout and unicorn fish 5. Canyons: Swim through beautiful grottos of hard coral extending into vast unexplored underwater canyons at 15 – 80 feet.  Reef Sharks rest in the grottos. 6. Nugget: Two coral heads - one a myriad of soft corals surrounded by schools of fairy basslets, masked banner fish, leaf fish, with jacks and barracuda circling. The second coral head is covered in golden soft corals. Lion fish, scorpion fish with nesting trigger fish and moray eels are abundant.
7. Goldilocks: Great diversity of hard and soft corals. Very abundant reef fish population. Nice dive because you can swim completely around the edge of the reef in a 30-40 minute dive. 8. Jacksons: Spectacular wall with gigantic sea fans at depths of 90 feet. Finish the dive among luxurious purple soft corals at 40-60 ft. 9. Fingers: Beautiful spur and groove reef system, jutting fingers of hard coral alternating with high flow grooves. Painted crayfish, giant tridacna clams, and eagle rays.  Dive ranges from 20 – 70 feet.
10. Hole in the Wall: Vertical drop off supporting huge gorgonian fans. Large tuna, spotted sweetlips, mackerel, barracuda, with bronze whalers lurking in the depths below.   11. Big Blue: Spectacular drop off with giant gorgonians covered with feather stars. Perfect place to watch for sea turtles and large fish 12. Nsonisoni Pass: Drift dive along a wall covered with every variety of pristine hard and soft corals imaginable. Swim across the passage to the purple bommies, a mass of purple soft corals fed by the nutrient-rich Koro sea waters. Large barracuda, circling grey reef sharks and white tips cruise everywhere.
13. Dakuniba Pass: Dakuniba Pass is a 100 foot maximum wall dive where you'll see pelagics such as barracuda, sharks and tuna. There are also some beautiful gorgonian fans at this site, which is best done on outgoing tides. 14. Magic Mountain: A coral pinnacle, 80 feet in diameter, rising from the bottom to within 10 feet of the surface. Even at the top, it's about 50 feet across. At about 40 feet, a soft coral- and sponge-covered tunnel pierces the "mountain." Flashlight fish can be found on night dives. Black coral, scarlet sea fans and soft corals. Orange anthias, basslets and purple baitfish. Trevally, coral trout, butterflyfish, golden damselfish, long-nosed hawkfish and spotted sweetlips. A resident school of batfish patrols the edge of the drop-off.

15. Namena Island: A small island 20 miles to the south of Savusavu surrounded by mile after mile of unexplored reefs. Seemingly borttomless drop-offs, multi-colored soft corals and perfect coral gardens support an abundance of marine life. This is the place to see the big fish cruising in from the depths of the Koro Sea. Barracuda, spanish mackerel, dog-tooth tuna, mantas and large sharks can patrol these reefs at any time.
