| The small town of MERRIJIG, a little under halfway to Mount Buller from Mansfield, is largely responsible for the great number of riding outfits in the area. The breathtaking high-country scenery nearby was used as the location for the film The Man from Snowy River, and visitors have been trying to live out their fantasies ever since. | |
| If you want to combine riding with lodge accommodation, try Merrijig Lodge and Trail Rides, Mount Buller Road. There’s also a cluster of country B&Bs in the vicinity: one of the most pleasant is Black Horse Park B&B, on a farm 7km south of the Mount Buller–Merrijig road, which has two cottages each with en-suite facilities; they also organize trail rides and other activities. | |
