Hotel in Yarra Valley

Chateau Yering Historic Hotel

The opening of Chateau Yering Historic House Hotel marks a new phase in the development of the Yarra Valley as a world class tourism destination. The historic house, originally built by Paul De Castella in 1854, has been sensitively renovated and is now the luxury hotel in the Yarra Valley.

Chateau Yering is a one-hour drive from Melbourne. The property features an elegant restaurant seating 120, a lively cafe catering for 70 and 20 luxury accommodation options. The site of the first vineyard in Victoria, Chateau Yering has been lavishly restored to its former grandeur. Refurbishment on the historic property and gardens took 17 months, with the Hotel opening in September 1997.

Chateau Yering is a very special property. The house and the gardens are full of history and the restoration has been extremely sympathetic. The result is a magnificent, luxury hotel offering superb food and wine and a commitment by our team to first class service.

Chateau Yering - This heritage listed Victorian mansion on 250 acres bordering the Yarra River is set amidst historic gardens and dates from 1854. The property enjoys breathtaking views over the Yarra Valley and the superb refurbishment includes antiques and fine paintings.

Dining & Wining

The Hotel's two restaurants, Eleonore's and Sweetwater Café, offer excellent local produce. The Chinese Room seats 14 and is available for use as a private conference or dining room.

Chateau Yering is managed by Sonia and Gary Cooper, who attracted a loyal following at their Wild Oak Cafe in the Dandenongs. Between them Sonia and Gary have 30 years experience in the hospitality industry. Sonia built her career at Burnham Beeches; Stephaine's Restaurant and the Wild Oak Cafe.

Gary Cooper is Executive Chef at Chateau Yering and his reputation for refined cuisine was developed at Fanny's, Marchetti's Latin, Burnham Beeches, Cotswold House and the Wild Oak Cafe. Sonia Cooper said the timing was perfect to open a small, luxury retreat in the area.

"The Yarra Valley is already Victoria's premier wine region and renowned for its superb food, wine and hospitality. Five star, luxury accommodation in the area has been desperately needed for some time and Chateau Yering fills that gap extremely well".

There are more than 30 vineyards within a few minutes drive of Chateau Yering and many of the locally produced wines feature on the wine lists in Sweetwater Cafe and Eleonore's Restaurant.
