| Eucalypt Ridge Lodge
Eucalypt Ridge is a private and exclusive sanctuary adjoining Lake Eildon National Park. Eucalypt Ridge is a haven for those who realise the need to take time out, enjoy quiet moments with a loved one, or with one's self. Eucalypt Ridge has been chosen by the Paris based Les Meilleurs Hotels du Monde as one of the world's most exclusive 200 hotels. * "Eucalypt Ridge is justly acclaimed: yes, it's expensive, yes it's exclusive, but we think this five-star sanctuary is simply one of the most divine places for a pampering escape. A luxury package here is all-inclusive, right down to some of the finest wines that money can buy, and first class, dinner-party-style dining. The internationally acclaimed property is based around a modern, split-level house on a bush ridge with stunning views of Lake Eildon and the Goulburn Valley. Up to four couples are welcomed at a time (no children under 16)." Two luxuriously furnished lounges invite you to unwind with music (on CD or at the grand piano), a movie, or a book. Relax with other guests or, if you prefer, spend a few private moments in quiet contemplation of the distant hills. Dining Evening is the time to enjoy good company and conversation As daylight fades, guests gather in the lounge for cocktails before sharing a memorable meal prepared with the very best ingredients and accompanied by the finest regional wines. |

Spring, Summer and Autumn provide the best of all weather to experience
and enjoy the outdoors of Australia. The driest time of the year is
Autumn, with Winter being the next driest. Spring is the most changeable
but still superb in this part of Victoria. Winter, unlike other parts of
Victoria and Australia, means snow at many of the surrounding peaks and
even at Eucalypt Ridge.
Dress |
|
| Smart casual seems to be
the most popular with the opportunity to change into something special for
the Saturday evening formal dinner. Indoor shoes or similar would be
appreciated within the confines of the building.
Location |
|
| 145km north-east of
Melbourne, "Eucalypt Ridge" is an easy 2 hour drive through the
ever-changing eastern suburbs of Melbourne to the fabulous Yarra Valley
vineyards. On through the magnificent Mountain Ash forest of the Great
Dividing Range, the pastures of the Goulburn Valley and up to the High
Country where "Eucalypt Ridge" stands on its forested mountain top.
Driving directions from Melbourne Airport After leaving the airport, travel towards Melbourne along the Tullamarine Freeway and turn left (east) onto the Western Ring Road - a distance of approximately 4 kilometres. Drive east along the Western Ring Road for a distance of approximately 6.5 kilometres and turn left (north) onto the Hume Highway/Freeway (No 31) - a major freeway intersection with the main Sydney/Melbourne road. Quite a long drive now up the Hume Highway/Freeway, and take the Broadford/Flowerdale off ramp (past the Sunday Creek off ramp) - a distance of approx. 58 kilometres. Turn right (east) over the Freeway bridge towards Strath Creek and zero your car odometer at this point, as all distances hereafter will have their origin at this Freeway bridge. You will now travel through the towns(!) of Tyaak, Strath Creek and Kerrisdale (ignore the Flowerdale turnoff) until the "T" intersection with the Goulburn Valley Highway at 27.9kms. Turn right (east) towards Yea and you will pass through the towns of Yea and Molesworth until you reach the Alexandra turnoff to the right (still east) at 62.4kms. You will arrive at a "T" intersection with the Maroondah Highway at 68.8kms. Turn right (south) and travel along the Maroondah Highway (which is also the Goulburn Valley along this section) to Alexandra. At 75.7kms you arrive at the only major cross road intersection in Alexandra and turn left along the Goulburn Valley Highway towards Eildon. Out of town, at 77.4kms, veer left and leave the Goulburn Valley Highway for the Lake Eildon National Park Road. At 88.5kms, you arrive at Haines Saddle roundabout. Turn right along Skyline Road signposted Eildon. At 90.5kms, there is a scenic lookout where you can see Eucalypt Ridge in the distance. 92.5kms brings you to the first set of electronic security gates at Eucalypt Ridge. Proceed a further 170m down the mountain to our second set of gates which will require a sharp U-turn, and where there is a buzzer and an intercom on the first brick pillar. |
