Rail Journeys in Australia

The Indian Pacific

The "Indian Pacific" is the longest and one of the greatest rail journeys on earth. It is an ocean to ocean adventure in a comfortable three day journey - a total of 4352km in 64 hours.

Leaving Sydney, pass through the Blue Mountains before crossing the countryside of New South Wales. Make an "Outback" stop at Broken Hill. Continue south to Adelaide, the "Festival City" and one of Australia's premium wine growing areas. Get ready for the Nullarbor Plainflat and arid yet fascinating, with 478km of "straight track", the longest in the world. Arrive at Kalgoorlie, a thriving historic gold mining town. Finally - beautiful Perth. You've come a long way - in fact, Perth is closer to Singapore than it is to Sydney.

And what comfort! This world famous train offers First Class accommodation with meals in the opulently appointed Queen Adelaide Restaurant. Holiday Class travellers enjoy their meals in Matilda's Restaurant, featuring casual buffet - style dining. Coach class passengers have their own food and beverage facilities. First Class passengers can enjoy the lounge facilities - a piano (singalong), video machine, and recorded music, or you may just like to relax and enjoy a drink or a game of cards with your fellow passengers.
