Sahara Outback Tours

Introduction

SAHARA OUTBACK TOURS, ALICE SPRINGS
Sahara Outback Tours was established in 1988 and is owned and operated by Peter and Angie Reidy, both long time Territorians, who have travelled extensively throughout Central Australia. Our aim is to provide a quality product specialising in personalised tours for those who want to see the true outback with flexible schedules.

1989, saw the expansion of Sahara Outback Tours into extended camping safaris with the introduction of regular two day and three day adventure camping tours to Ayers Rock, Olgas and Kings Canyon. The objective being to cater for travellers looking for adventure but still wanting to travel in small groups (10 - 22 passengers). These tours in 5 years became so successful that Sahara Outback Tours established an excellent reputation both nationally  and internationally.

With this success behind us, Sahara Outback Tours once again expanded to include a five day 4WD camping safari. This tour incorporates Ayers Rock, Olgas, Kings Canyon, Palm Valley, Wallace Rock Hole Aboriginal Community and the Western MacDonnell Ranges to give a comprehensive Central Australian touring experience.

Tours

Sahara's camping adventure tours cater for those wanting to travel in small groups (10 - 22 passengers). These camping tours are designed for those people who are looking for adventure and who want to experience the beauty of Central Australia whilst enjoying the reward of camping and meeting new friends.

Although there is no hard work on the camping tours the success of the tour does rely on the participation of all the passengers to help with the cooking, collecting firewood, setting up camp etc.

Therefore passengers should be in good health, young at heart and be prepared to experience a camping adventure.

Camping Equipment Provided

On the 2 and 3 day Ayers Rock/Olgas/Kings Canyon camping safaris Sahara Tours has its own exclusive permanent camp sites with tents already erected. These tents are large ridge-pole (hut style) tents with safari "off-the-ground" beds, sleeping sheets and sleeping bags.

On the 5 day Red Centre 4WD camping safari all camping equipment (including swags and tents) are included but camps do have to be set up each night.

At each camp ground that Sahara stays at there are full shower and toilet facilities. Meals of an excellent standard are provided as indicated on the itineraries, with one of the highlights for many of the passengers being given the opportunity to have a hearty bush stew and fresh damper cooked in camp ovens over a crackling fire. Vegetarians can be catered for with prior notice.
