From our base at Melaleuca Lodge in central Darwin we offer an exciting range of safari's to many of the Top End's wilderness attractions. We cover Kakadu, Katherine Gorge, Litchfield and more, click on the links below to view detailed itineraries.

  • Litchfield 1 Day Safari

The perfect day trip from Darwin, taking in Buley Rock Hole, Florence Falls, Tolmer & Wangi Falls, Magnetic Termite Mounds. We highly recommend Litchfield Park for it's diversity and beauty, rarely visited by other tours. This park is one of the Northern Territory's best kept secrets

Itinerary: 

Spend a day experiencing the mixture of springfed waterfalls, monsoonal vineforests, tropical woodlands and intriguing features this park has to offer. After an early start we head off for a fun day visiting the magnetic termite mounds, Buley Rock Hole, Florence, Tolmer & Wangi Falls where we climb to the top for a spectacular view of the surrounding bush. After a day of swimming, bushwalking and a fantastic lunch we head back to Darwin. (L)

Litchfield National Park demands a minimum of one full day to truly appreciate the beauty and diversity of one of our best kept secrets. N.B Itinerary may vary due to seasonal conditions.

  • Kakadu 2 Day 4wd Safari

A short 4wd safari into Kakadu for those adventurers who are a bit pushed for time. Explore the main highlights of Kakadu such as Fogg Dam, Ubirr Rock, Jim Jim & Twin Falls. Also included is a wildlife cruise on the Mary River Wetlands ( Perfect for spotting Crocodiles. ) Overnight camping in Kakadu National Park.

Itinerary: 

Day 1: Travel via Fogg Dam Nature Reserve a menagerie of birdlife, snakes and other reptiles. From here, we travel onto the Mary River for a spectacular wildlife cruise. After lunch, visit Bowali Visitors Centre and Ubirr artsite for the afternoon. Time is spent surveying the Aboriginal occupational area in which paintings date back an estimated 20,000 years or more. We camp overnight in Kakadu National Park. (LD)

Day 2: The day is spent enjoying the splendour of Twin and Jim Jim Falls. Swimming and rock hopping is necessary to access these waterfall areas. In the afternoon, travel back to Darwin. (BL) ( Dec - May, Twin & Jim Jim Falls are closed due to the extreme weather conditions. During these times, we will visit alternative waterfall areas.)

  • Kakadu 3 Day Camping Safari

In the comfort of a Toyota Coaster bus, share the awesome experience of Kakadu. This camping safari takes in Fogg Dam, the Mary River Wetlands, Ubirr Rock, Nourlangie Rock, the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Barramundi Gorge and Gunlom Falls ( Pictured above. ) The Mary River wildlife cruise is also included on this tour.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Early start for visit to Fogg Dam, viewing a wonderful display of flora and fauna then onto Window on the Wetlands for an insight into the special eco system before joining your wildlife cruise on the Mary River (best place to view crocs). Next a monsoonal vineforest walk viewing the unique plantlife of the area, adjoining the Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge, where we stop for our overnight camp. (LD)

Day 2: Journey to Ubirr, an area rich in Aboriginal history with spectacular views of the surrounding floodplains. We then travel to Bowali visitors centre for lunch and then travel to Barramundi Gorge (Maguk) for a swim & time to explore this beautiful place. Overnight camp in Kakadu National Park. (BLD)

Day 3: Begin the day by visiting the Aboriginal Art Sites of Nourlangie Rock and onto the Warradjan Cultural Centre. The natural wonders of Gunlom falls is our next destination, where you can relax and swim in the waterhole before heading back to Darwin. (BL)

Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Fogg Dam Nature Reserve and see a menagerie of birdlife, snakes & other reptiles. Next ‘Window on the Wetlands’ and Bark Hut before arriving at Point Stuart for lunch & a monsoonal vine forest walk before an afternoon crocodile/wildlife cruise on the Mary River Wetlands System. Overnight camp at Pt Stuart Wilderness Lodge. (LD)

Day 2: This morning we travel into the awesome Jim Jim Falls deep within the striking escarpment country. Walk up the gorge to the base of the falls, enjoying the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful area. After lunch we travel to Twin Falls (only able to be viewed by swimming). Admire the cascading waterfall and sunbake on the sandy bank/beach before camping overnight in Kakadu. (BLD)

Day 3: Early start for Ubirr art site and spectacular views over floodplains and Arnhemland. Onto Jabiru & Nourlangie where vivid rock art depicting dreamtime beliefs dating back an estimated 20 000 years can be explored. Experience the beauty of (Maguk) Barramundi Gorge. Savouring this spectacular scenery we journey back to Darwin. (BL)

  • Kakadu 5 Day 4wd Safari

This tour is for fit and active people that want to gain a greater insight into the mystique and culture that this World Heritage National Park has to offer. This adventure incorporates the use of basic bush camps, so that we can reach remote areas where few people travel.

On the agenda are Ubirr, Nourlangie Rock Aboriginal artsite, Jim Jim and Twin Falls, Barramundi Gorge, Mamaluka Wetlands, Fogg Dam, Nawurlandja lookout, Mary River Wetlands, Jabiru, Warradjan Cultural Centre, Marrakai Floodplains, Pine Creek and More... ( But not necessarily in that order. )

Itinerary: Spend 5 days exploring the beauty of Kakadu National Park in a modern 4WD vehicle with a small group. This tour is aimed at the adventure traveller looking for an experience rather than just a sightseeing tour. A good degree of fitness and an ability to swim is essential to fully enjoy this tour as it is considered one of the most active tours visiting this area.

Our aim is to educate visitors on the Aboriginal content ie: mythology, culture, bushtucker, as well as the flora, fauna, eco-systems and the environment. Sleeping at night beneath the stars in swags.
