Visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service and historic Telegraph Station. Townsville passengers arrive late afternoon. Meet your fellow travellers for dinner. Overnight: Alice Springs Resort. Day 2 Mon. Standley Chasm -Simpsons Gap - Ayers Rock Resort - Exclusive "Dine Around Dinner" (BD): Travel into the West MacDonnell Ranges to see peaceful Simpsons Gap, where the black-footed wallabies can be found on the rocky slopes. View the striking red vertical walls of Standley Chasm before turning south for our journey to Ayers Rock Resort. |

| View Mt. Conner, an
impressive flat-topped mountain often mistaken for Uluru, and see a
fascinating chain of salt lakes in the distance. Tonight, enjoy the
flexibility of our exclusive "Dine Around Dinner". Choose from a
variety of restaurants within the Resort. Alternatively dine under the
stars in a secluded bush setting at the "Sounds of Silence"
(must be pre-booked, additional $50). Overnight: Ayers Rock Resort, Desert
Gardens Hotel - Rock View Rooms for 2 nights.
Day 3 Tue. Explore Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park - Sunset Drinks (B): Morning climb to the summit of Uluru (Ayers Rock), or tour the base. Perhaps join the optional Liru Walk. Visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and inspect the Maruku Arts and Crafts Gallery where you can purchase original artifacts from the aboriginals. Explore Kata Tjuta (Olgas) a striking contrast to Uluru, and walk amongst the domes. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks this evening as you watch the sunset overlooking Uluru. Day 4 Wed. Kings Creek Station - Kings Canyon (BLD): Travel via Curtin Springs and Angas Downs cattle stations. Pass through striking red sandhills covered in yellow-green spinifex and unusual Casuarina trees, to Kings Creek Station. Experience Outback hospitality and a hearty buffet lunch at this huge cattle station, specialising in camel-herding for export. Time to chat with the station hands before continuing to Watarrka National Park in the spectacular and rugged George Gill Ranges. Overnight: Kings Canyon Resort, Range View Rooms. Tonight your Tour Director will host pre-dinner drinks, with champagne, to celebrate the "Turn of the Century". Day 5 Thur. Kings Canyon Scenic Rim Walk - Hermannsburg - Alice Springs (B): Kings Canyon is a magnificent geological formation. For the energetic, an escorted climb to the rim of Kings Canyon will be rewarded with spectacular views. Alternatively, enjoy a guided walk along the canyon floor. Travel via the Mereenie Loop Road, through some of Central AustraliaÕs most striking scenery to Hermannsburg Precinct, and on to Alice Springs. This evening, dinner has not been included - you may like to try one of the local restaurants. Overnight: Alice Springs Resort for 2 nights. Day 6 Fri. Alice Springs Touring - School of the Air - Desert Park - The Pioneers Barbecue (BD): Visit School of the Air which educates children in outback Australia via radio. See the internationally acclaimed Desert Park recreating three desert habitats, including flora and fauna. Tonight, dine at The Pioneers Barbecue in an authentic outback setting. Enjoy soup from the camp oven, damper baked in the campfire, tastes from the barbecue and fresh salads and dessert. After dinner, relax around the camp-fire with a glass of port, listening to bush yarns and the distinctive sounds of the didgeridoo. Day 7 Sat. The Aboriginal Dreamtime and Bushtucker Tour (B): Join our local guide and members of the Walpiri tribe to learn of the unique aboriginal culture. See how they find bush tucker and sample a witchetty grub! Your tour concludes. |
