Lake St. Clair stretches over 17 Kilometres into the heart of Tasmania's World Heritage Area. The lake is ringed by mountain ranges, dominated by Mt Olympus - at 1447 metres - and forested to the shoreline with sassafras, myrtle, native pines and beeches and a whole range of endemic alpine flora. The Lodges The Lakeside St Clair Lodge offers a range of accommodation and services. The restaurant looks over the lake - dining with a world heritage view. It is not only an excellent brasserie / restaurant, but houses also a shop, aswell as the Fishing and Visitor Information Centre. The lodge offers two types of rooms. Alpine Lodging Rooms Snuggled in a bushland setting beside the lake, the lodge nice furnishings, mezzanine bedrooms with extensive use of local timbers throughout. All 6 rooms are heated with wood fires, these innovatively designed lodges are in complete sympathy with their very special surroundings. Backpackers Lodging Rooms Each room can accommodate up to four people, doonas and linen are available, electric heating in each room. Communal refectory with fully equipped kitchen and large wood heater is avaliable for lodge users.

Daily Activities
An infinte variety of outdoor experiences. A full days alpine walk or a gentle hour long stroll. Ranger guided walks with full interpretation, or your choice along well marked trails. Lake St. Clair is world renowned for its walks. There are also motorised dinghies, golf within 30 minutes, 4WD arrangements, or specially designed family and children activities. Wildlife Bennet's Wallabies and paddymelons are our regular inhabitants that you can easily get along with. However the range of bird life is extensive, and at night - devil, possum, and wobat are all close at hand. Lake Cruises A daily cruise service on this beautiful and impressive World Heritage Waterway, is a highlight of your visit to Lake St. Clair. The forests, mountains and moraine beaches give the photographer numerous opportunities. Please ensure you make your booking. Fishing Fully equipped fly fishing excursions can be planned with our professional guides - Lake St. CLair is in the midst of one of the worlds's greatest wild trout fisheries. Our lakes, streams, and tarns are all full of potential. Public Transport Lakeside St. Clair in association with Maxwell's Coaches provides a highway shuttle service and also charter availability statewide. Daily oute services operate to all major centres during the season, through Wilderness Travel and TigerLine Coaches. Taxi and air services are available by arrangement.
