South Australia (Yorke Peninsula) |
| Maitland | |
| Another
town laid out like Adelaide, with streets at right angles and the whole
town surrounded by parklands, Maitland services an agricultural community
rich in history and has some wonderful examples of colonial architecture.
A hanging on display in the Town Hall was embroidered by the local community and depicts the history of the district from Aboriginal times through to agricultural settlement. |

| This is an agricultural and folk history museum spread over three buildings featuring photographs, maps and artefacts. The history of the district is traced from pre- European settlement through to the 20th century. Displays covering the schools of central Yorke Peninsula are housed in an old schoolhouse dating from 1878. The agricultural heritage of the district is explained with implements and photographs and looks at the use of the land. A special feature of this display is an early clover harvester. | |
