| The O’Reilly's have been welcoming
people into their mountain home for over 80 years. In all we have
introduced three generations of Australians to the rainforest, waterfalls
and wildlife of the famous Lamington National Park – now World Heritage
listed. Caring for our guests is a way of life that hasn’t changed since
those early days. We join you at mealtimes for a chat, let you know
what’s on the day’s program, answer any questions and find out what
you want from your holiday. Maybe it’s just our country hospitality, but
we really believe the most important part of our job is getting to know
you!
Something for Everyone
Do you have an appetite for adventure? There’s
something for everyone at O’Reilly’s. Let the 4WD bus do the work as
you head out to one of many scenic spots where we have the traditional
'boiling the billy'. If you are feeling more energetic, you can escape for
the day on your own or with one of the O’Reilly clan. Grab a walking
map, packed lunch and head for the hills. Short nature walks and our
famous treetop walk are accessible to all while the longer walks take
advantage of an excellent track system. Discover hundreds of waterfalls,
ancient Antarctic Beech trees covered in delicate ferns and mosses, giant
buttresses of gracious old fig and Booyong trees, and spectacular views of
rugged mountain ranges.
Making Friends
As the sun sets and the evening mist rolls in,
join fellow adventurers in the Rainforest Room, our licensed lounge, to
drink in the view and relive the events of the day. The fresh mountain air
assures a good appetite, so join your friends in the dining room for a
sumptuous meal and, perhaps, a bottle of fine Queensland wine. |

|
| In the evening, take a
guided walk to the glow-worms, see luminous fungi in season and go
spotlighting pademelons, possums and gliders. Enjoy a world class
audio-visual on the living rainforest. Or let Rhelma, Bernard
O’Reilly’s daughter, take you on an historic journey as she relates
the adventures of early mountain life, including the remarkable rescue
story of the 1937 Stinson air disaster. Bush dances, sing-a-longs and
cliff top campfire nights are all part of the O'Reilly scene. Or, perhaps,
the log fire beckons you for a yarn with a friend.
Wildlife |
O'Reilly's offers 4
types of accommodation.
All Bithongabel rooms (below) boast a private
balcony where you can relax and soak up the magnificent views to the
McPherson ranges. The spacious highset rooms feature exposed beams,
natural timbers and raked ceilings. Most rooms contain a queen and single
bed, whilst six family rooms also contain two bunks for small children,
and two are equipped for wheelchair occupation. Seven smaller rooms are
set aside for single occupancy.
Three stunning new suites adjoin the luxuriant
rainforest canopy and offer twice the space of normal rooms. A
comfortable living area features recycled timber flooring, lounge
chairs, audio system, library and bar. The suites have four large
balconies with spectacular views of the rainforest foliage and western
mountain ranges. A spacious bedroom features a kingsize four poster bed,
sofa and a warming fireplace. The bathroom has a spa bath with views
through a full length picture window of the breathtaking mountain
scenery.
Originally constructed in the early 1970s,
these rooms have recently been fully refurbished and feature red cedar
shutters, handcrafted Queensland maple furniture and timber queen sized
beds. Four rooms also have access to a small balcony.
- Toolona Rooms (Basic Accommodation)
Affectionately known to the locals
as Possums’ Playground, this 1930s guesthouse accommodation is still
the preferred choice for many regular visitors. Bedrooms each have tea
and coffee making facilities and access a central hallway, leading to a
communal bathroom. Four rooms have queen size beds and two contain twin
single beds.
