Maheno Restaurant has a different food theme each night, show-casing
the best of Australian and international food. There is a spread of
hot and cold dishes and stunning desserts. On Fridays and Saturdays
the buffet features fresh local seafood. Casual dining overlooking the
pool. Full country style hot breakfast buffet. A la carte lunches on
the deck. Regular entertainment.

Seabelle Restaurant and Cocktail Bar - The Australian
"cafe style" a la carte menu features food designed to suit
our Queensland climate. It combines the best and freshest Australian
food with the flavour of the bush. A superb Australian dining
experience with a selection of the finest Australian wines. Open for

- The Sand Bar - Overlooking the beach
with a vibrant nautical atmosphere it offers fun, food and
entertainment. Dine on the deck. The reasonably priced menu has a good
range of salads, pastas, burgers, steak and seafood. In the evenings
the pizza ovens are fired up to serve a delicious array of gourmet
pizza. The Sand Bar is the perfect place to spend an afternoon
overlooking the tranquil waters of the Great Sandy Strait enjoying the
live music while the children swim in one of the two pools.

Self contained two and three
bedroom villas nestle among the trees. Ranging in size from
bungalows with a master bedroom and a bunk room for the kids to three
bedroom town houses with huge living areas, they are delightful
holiday homes. All have large private decks.

Wilderness Lodge: Nine
spacious lodge buildings are located amongst the eucalypt forest on
the eastern side of the resort. The Wilderness Lodge offers
multi-share budget accommodation for groups. In each lodge there are
two twin\double rooms and two bunk rooms, two big multi use bathrooms
and an open plan living area. Group booking rates on application.

Kingfisher Bay Resort and
Village has three restaurants, four bars, a bakery and coffee shop and a
general store. The whole of the central complex, which houses reception
and two restaurants is non smoking. Smoking is permitted on the
surrounding decks and all restaurants have outside dining areas.

sandwiches and pastries, cappuccino and delicious milkshakes. Open
daily.
- The Village General store - provisions
and household requirements, resort wear, souvenirs, petrol station,
bottle shop. Open daily.
- 4wd Drive Hire - Explore the island at
your own pace. Four wheel drive vehicles can be hired from 4WD Hire in
the Shopping Village. Organise a picnic lunch with Maheno Restaurant
or the Bakery. A permit to drive on the island is required by the
Department of the Environment and can be purchased at 4WD Hire.
Bookings ahead are essential for 4wd rental.

Fraser Island Attractions
The major Fraser Island attractions of Lake McKenzie, Central Station and
Seventy-Five Mile Beach are easily accessible from the resort. The resort is surrounded by a wealth of plant and animal species. Rare
acid frogs, bats and sugar gliders can be seen at night.
There are 325 species of birds on the island including migratory waders,
sea eagles, large colourful parrots, honeyeaters and kingfishers.
The bountiful plant life provides bush tucker (bush food) and natural
medicines. A freshwater creek spills into the ocean close to the resort.
It is edged by five mangrove species.
Humpback whales visit Fraser Island from August to October. Australia's
purest breed of dingo roams the island.
Kingfisher Bay's team of highly skilled rangers conducts daily a
variety of four wheel drive guided tours to explore the Fraser Island
wilderness and explain the natural and cultural history. They also offer a
daily range of free nature walks and activities.
Learning about the environment is fun for children. The resort
has a free junior ranger program for children at weekends and during
Australian school holidays.
Activities are designed to allow guests to enjoy and, at the same time,
learn about this very special island without impacting on the environment.

| Australia's Fraser
Island, the world's largest sand island lies at the southern end of the
Great Barrier Reef, just a 35 minute boat ride from Hervey Bay and a 45
minute flight or a three-and-a-half hour drive from the Queensland capital
of Brisbane.
Both Sunstate Airlines, linked with Qantas, and Flight West Airlines,
linked with Ansett, have several daily services from Brisbane to Hervey
Bay. Greyhound-Pioneer and McCafferty's coaches have daily services from
Brisbane.
Courtesy coach transfers are available from
Hervey Bay Airport and Coach Terminal to Kingfisher Bay Ferry Terminal,
Urangan Boat Harbour. Kingfisher Bay has six return catamaran services to
the resort each day. A vehicular barge service runs three times a day from
River Heads. Kingfisher Bay Resort, on the western side of the island,
overlooks the islands and channels of the Great Sandy Strait. |
