Hotel in Sydney (Citycentre) Sydney Hilton Hotel |
| The Hilton Sydney can best be
described as a very experienced hotel. A solid four-star hotel, it
provides a list of guest services based on years of experience of
travellers' needs from dietary and Kosher meals to simply essential baby
nappies (diapers) which is the envy of many competitors.
The hotel is at the heart of Sydney's main shopping district with its main entrance on Pitt Street and its rear entrance on George Street directly opposite the Queen Victoria Building. George Street is a major bus route to the financial district, Circular Quay, The Rocks and the Sydney Opera House. The Pitt Street entrance is a 2 minute walk from the monorail station to Darling Harbour, Chinatown and the Sydney Entertainment Centre. The city's main shopping arcades and major department stores are within a 10 minute walk. |

| Hilton Sydney is an
unusual hotel for the city. It is built above the Royal Arcade shopping
centre with most of its food, beverage and conference facilities on the
next three floors. Offices accessed through a completely separate entrance
occupy the next 11 levels. Guest rooms take up the next 23 levels to the
43rd floor. Most offer expansive city views and some have distant harbour
glimpses.
The hotel has 585 rooms and suites, including 42 Executive rooms on two floors and 10 floors of non-smoking rooms. All the hotel's rooms and suites are tastefully furnished in light, muted tones and offer the choice of King, Queen or twin beds. The Executive floors share a private lounge with a floor manager on each and selected support staff. Executive guests can enjoy complimentary continental breakfasts and evening cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and a range of business services, including international newspapers. Hilton Sydney has three restaurants and six bars, including Sydney's most historic hotel bar - the George Adams. This dates from the when Adams Hotel occupied part of the Hilton site. Black marble and timber with alabaster busts and statuettes, it was taken apart and rebuilt as a condition of the new development. Though it has lost some of its former grandeur, it is part of Sydney's history and well worth a visit. That and the Henry 9th bar just outside the Pitt Street main entrance are popular with locals and do not provide a room charge facility. The other bars are the Admiral's Cup, the San Francisco Grill cocktail bar, and the Riche Nightclub. Hilton's San Francisco Grill is a grill room with a solid reputation for good food and wine, while The Market Place is a popular brasserie-style casual eatery. The Living Room serves traditional and contemporary Australian cuisine. Few Hilton guests can complain of being hungry or thirsty. The first Hilton International hotel to open in Australia, the Hilton Sydney has built a reputation as a busy conference and banquet venue as well. |
