| Brewarrinna | |
| The small town of Brewarrina lies 100km east of Bourke on the Barwon River. The town of BREWARRINA (locals call it “Bree”), has a large Aboriginal population. The river was a natural fishery for the Aboriginal people and their fish traps, consisting of a complex pattern of partly submerged stone boulders, can still be seen. | |
| The excellent Aboriginal Cultural Museum (call 02/6839 2421 for opening hours), located near the ancient fisheries in an earth-covered building similar to an Aboriginal shelter, explains the history of the area’s Ngemba people and offers walkabout tours. | |
