deepest diver training pool, 4.5 metres deep and heated as well as changing
rooms with showers, 2 classrooms, offices, equipment storage areas, large
undercover areas, on-site medical examinations, all fully air-conditioned.
PADI 5 Day Learn to Dive Course
The popular PADI 5 day learn to dive program consisting of 2 days pool
and theory training followed by a 3 day 2 night liveaboard cruise to the very
outer Great Barrier Reef.
Day 1 & 2: Your instructor will take you through the academics of
scuba diving in the morning: in the afternoon you will put the theory into
practice in the pool. Day one and two start at 8.30am and finish at
approximately 5.30pm with one hour for lunch. Your compulsory dive medical will
be arranged for you on day 1.
Day 3 & 4: Your Great Barrier Reef dive adventure starts when the
boat sails out at 7.00am to take you to some very Outer Reef sites exclusive to
Pro Dive. Here you will complete 9 dives; 4 qualifying dives and 5 recreational
dives to explore the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef, including a night dive (this
guided dive is optional and weather permitting).
Day 5: the boat returns to Cairns at approximately 4.00pm. At night we
meet again for a graduation party.

- PADI GOLD Open Water Certificate,
- all scuba equipment,
- use of Prescription Mask,

Requirements:

- Ability to swim.
- Minimum age 12 years (no maximum age).
- Dive Medical in accordance with AS 4005.1, to be arranged by Pro Dive on
day 1 cost AU$35.00.
- 2 Passport photographs (can be arranged by Pro Dive).
N.B You should not fly within 24 hours of diving.
PADI Advanced Openwater Course (3days
incl. Liveaboard Cruise) |
| This course is structured to give the
newly certified or inexperienced diver added confidence and enjoyment
throught additional training and skills. The course consists of a 3 day, 2
night liveaboard cruise to the outer Barrier Reef. You will do 11 dives, 5
of these are training dives covering Navigation (both compass and
natural), Night Diving and Deep Diving. These dives are core dives and
must be completed. With the guidance of your PADI Instructor you will also
do 2 "Elective" Dives. The additional 6 dives are for recreation
and to explore and enjoy the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef.
Pre-requisite for this course is Open Water diver qualification. Courses
commence every Wednesday, Thursday Saturday and Sunday.
Pro Dive's Advanced course is run in conjunction
with our 3 day / 2 night dive trips consisting of 11 dives in total. Only
5 dives of this trip are involved with your course the remaining 6 dives
are purely pleasure dives for you. Your Advanced course will teach you
Navigation, introduce you to Night and Deep Diving.

Requirements |
- PADI Advanced Certification or equivilent
- Minimum age is 15 years, with no maximum
age, however any participant that holds a PADI Junior Advanced
certification may be elegible
- A Dive Medical will be required as some
medical conditions may preclude you from diving. Asthma, diabetes
and epilepsy are the most common ones encountered.
- A current CPR (resuscitation) certificate is
required. It is best that this is organised prior to commencing the
Rescue Course, however training can be arranged by Pro Dive Cairns
the night before departure.
The PADI Rescue Diver course is designed to
help improve diver safety by teaching the recreational Diver how to
anticipate and prevent potential diving problems and if necessary,
safely respond to a variety of possible rescue situations.
As well as being ideal preparation for those
divers wishing to advance further to the PADI Divemaster level, the
Rescue Diver course is considered the most rewarding and important level
to achieve as a recreational diver and is an important and crucial step
in the development of a diver whose desire is to expand their knowledge
and experience beyond that of a recreational diver.
Course Outline |
DAY 1 - Wednesday
8:30
Students meet at Pro Dive Training centre, 116 Spence Street.
9:00-12:00
This morning is spent covering theory for the Rescue course. In this
session you will cover the four theory areas of :
- Self rescue and Diver stress
- Diving first aid and Equipment
- Emergency management
- Diving Equipment
- Our rescue theory is examinable through a
60-question multiple-choice exam, which will be completed on your
three day two night trip.
13:00-17:00
Wednesday afternoon Pool session is used to introduce students to some
of the basic skills they will need to progress though the rescue course.
The emphasis of this session is to allow students to develop their
rescue skills and techniques in a controlled environment before
conducting rescue scenarios in the ocean with wind waves and currents.
18:15-20:30
It is a necessary for certification that the student holds a current CPR
certificate completed within the last three- (3) years. If it is
necessary for the student to obtain a sanctioned CPR course PRO DIVE
will run a Royal Life saving CPR course on the Wednesday evening at a
cost of $40.00
DAY 2-4 - Thursday to Saturday
During the 3 day 2 night trip there are 11
dives scheduled. Minimums of three dives are dedicated to specific
rescue diver skill development. The remaining dives will be non-training
pleasure dives. Outside of your non-training dives you can expect
spontaneous real life rescue scenarios, to further develop your rescue
skills, ranging from panicked divers on the surface, missing diver
searches and in water resuscitation of unconscious divers. Rescue Divers
will be briefed on Emergency procedures for man overboard oxygen use,
life raft and distress flare operations as well as the operation of
rescue boats and diver recall.

Australian Medical Standards are different to
those over seas. A medical obtained in another country will most likley
not be valid in Australia. Pro Dive are happy to arrange a medical,
which will be needed before departure to the reef. Prior notice is
needed. - A standard dive medical is $35.00 AUD, payable direct to the
doctor - a history of Asthma, Diabetes, and pregnancy may exclude you
from Scuba Diving.
PADI Dive Master Course |
| This course has been devised to
enable the candidate to organise, conduct and supervise recreational
diving activities.
This course takes 15 days to complete and
is devided up into specific divemaster training, assisting an instructor
teaching open water courses and two 3-day 2-night live aboard dive trips
to the Outer Great Barrier Reef. Whils6t on these trips you get up to 20
dives consisting of a combination of training and recreational.
Requirements |
PADI Rescue Diver Certification or equivilent
with a minimum of 20 logged dives. In order to complete the
certification 60 logged dives will be needed, Pro dive can help arrange
extra dives if needed.
Before commencing your Divemaster Course, you
must thoroughly read the PADI, Divemaster Manual. You will also need to
have a copy of all PADI manuals which include, the Open Water, Advanced
and Rescue Diver Manuals, the Encyclopaedia of Recreational Diving and
the PADI Diving Knowledge Workbook, as well as the PADI Wheel for study
purposes.
Note: On successful completion of this course,
you will be required to submit, to PADI, together with your divemaster
paper work, a fee of $100, for your PADI Membership, a Dive Master
Medical Report, and 2 passport size photographs.
Refferal Course |
| The PADI Referral course lets you do
your pool and theory work at home, and your training qualifying dives on
the Great Barrier Reef.
THERE ARE TWO OPTIONS: |
- Option 1: 3 day · 2 night trip giving
you 9 dives in total. This option includes "Reef Teach"
Marine Biology presentation. Departures on Wednesday, Thursday,
Saturday and Sunday, ex Caims.
- Option 2: Two (1) day trips giving you
4 dives in total. Departures daily, ex Cairns.
Requirements:
- Dive medical in accordance with A.S
4005-1,this can be arranged for you by Pro Dive Caims the day prior
to departure
- 2 x passport photos
- Valid PADI referral papers.
If the referral
is not PADI an extra day prior to departure is required eohere a PADI
Scuba review program is completed.
