Terms & Conditions

This schedule forms part of your Rental Agreement.

Thank you for choosing Britz:Australia Rentals. We are very proud of our product and our reputation, and we have built our business on providing the best possible experience for our customers. Your safety and Security are our greatest concerns, so to assist in your holiday being a wonderful experience, it is important to carefully read the points made in this schedule.

Terms and Conditions
This document contains a brief summary of some of the rental conditions. The full detailed Terms and Conditions are contained in the Terms and Conditions schedule.

Road restrictions

Two Wheel Drive vehicles can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exceptions to this are the roads into Ban Ban Springs Station, Wildman River Wilderness Lodge (Northern Territory) and the roads on Kangaroo Island (South Australia).

Four Wheel Drive vehicles can also be driven on recognised unsealed roads and tracks.

Four Wheel Drive vehicles may only travel to the following areas with the written permission of Britz:Australia. Simpson Desert, Gunbarrel Highway, Cape York, Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville Track, Tanami Track and Gibb River Road. Our vehicles are not permitted on the Canning Stock Route, the Lost City in Litchfield Park and the Telegraph Road section of the road to Cape York.

Britz reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions or for any other reasonable cause.

Accidents

Accidents must be reported within 24 hours to our Claims Department, telephone no (08) 8234.4211.

YOU MUST NOT ADMIT LIABILITY TO OTHER PARTIES OR MAKE ANY OFFER OF SETTLEMENT.

The insurance excess is per accident and is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The insurance excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the third party. Please understand that this can take up to two years.

Under no circumstances should you attempt to start or drive a vehicle damaged by rollover. If your vehicle is undriveable after an accident and you would like to have a replacement vehicle which will be subject to time, distance and availability, you must make your own way (at your expense) to the nearest Britz:Australia Branch.

Repairs

Although we run late model vehicles, it may happen that small repairs are required. Repairs up to $100 may be effected without authorisation and will be reimbursed. For amounts over $100 we need to be informed in advance and we will approve and reimburse you for these repairs, provided you were not directly responsible for the damage. For authorisation of repairs phone the Britz Branch nearest to you.
Receipts must be submitted for any repair or the claim will not be paid.

Problems with your vehicle

Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported to Britz as soon as possible in order to give Britz the opportunity to rectify the problem during the period of rental. Please contact the Britz branch nearest to you.

Change of vehicle

We reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost in some circumstances.

Tyres

Tyre replacement costs will only be refunded if you have the Complete Cover Protection package. Please do not repair tubes, these must be replaced.

Child restraints for young children

We would like you to be aware that the following vehicles do not have anchorage points for child restraints. 

  • Toyota Mini and HiAce Campervans, 
  • Toyota Landcruiser Troop Carriers, 
  • Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Campervans, as well as 
  • Toyota Hilux and 
  • Utes (4WD's).

Change of drop off destination

If you wish to change the drop-off destination after the Rental has commenced, you must first obtain authorisation from the Customer Service Centre in Melbourne. Subject to the change being approved, an amendment fee of $300 will apply.

Vehicle check in time and city

These details are stated on your Rental Agreement. Late returns will be charged on a per day basis.

Credit cards

If a credit card is presented as payment, the Credit Card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a Customer.

Britz may use the credit card details for payment of any amount due under the Rental Agreement even if a signed, open credit card voucher has been returned.

Exchange rates / currency variations

All credit card transactions are conducted in Australian dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initial charged.
