Motorcycle hire began in 1996 on a small scale, with a few road and off-road bikes. In 1999, a motorcycle hire headquarters was established in Melbourne, providing one central pick-up point, but also offering accessories and touring information as well as the largest fleet of touring road bikes in Australia. 

Bikes available fall into three groups large touring machines, off road machines and budget machines. Large touring and budget machines are all based in Melbourne. Large touring bikes 1,000 - 1,600cc including touring trikes.

When is the best ?

Australia is motorcycling paradise, but knowing the best times of year to ride, and in which part of the country, is important. The north and central areas become hot and wet between November and April, this is a good time to be in the South, including Tasmania.

Conditions in the south between October and May are normally perfect for riding, although, if you're heading into the Snowy Mountains, the best time is between November and March. Travelling at night is not recommended in country areas, wild animals have no road manners.

Don't forget, Australia is about the same size as the United States, with a population of only 18 million, mostly on the Eastern Seaboard. Make sure you choose the best time of year to travel, we are always here to help and offer advise if you need it. Also remember, we drive on the left hand side of the road.

Taxes

A charge of 2% of all costs to cover government levies.

Helmets

These are compulsory in Australia and available for hire at cost of Aud $5 per day, maximum of Aud $50. Sizes are SMALL, MEDIUM and LARGE, and need to be reserved at time of booking. We strongly recommend you bring your own. Wet, cold weather gear and gloves are also available for hire.

Damage Deposit

A $5,000 deposit is required, this can be reduced to Aud $2,000 with the purchase of CDW and this will be processed before departure. This amount will be refunded on return of the undamaged motorcycle on time, with a full tank of fuel.
Please note that, theft is not covered under our motorcycle insurance policy, and the renter will be held liable for the full replacement cost, if a vehicle is stolen. We do provide chains and padlocks.

Total Liability of Renter

If the motorcycle is damaged, the renter will be considered "at fault", unless third party details are supplied to the Britz claims department. Accidents must be reported within 24 hours. The total liability of the renter is Aud $5,000. This can be reduced to Aud $2,000 with the purchase of CDW at Aud $15 per day, maximum of Aud $500.

Minimum Rental

Rental periods for roadbikes are 24 hours from the time of pick-up.

Road Restrictions

Motorcycles are not permitted on unsealed roads.
