Rental Period
A day is deemed to be a 24-hour period from time of pick-up. A
'late return' grace period of an additional 59 minutes is allowed for the
return of the vehicle at the end of the rental period. Each additional hour
(over any 24-hour period) is calculated at 20% of the applicable daily rate
up to 5 hours after which an additional day is then charged.
A minimum rental period of 3 days is required.
Due to the vast distances experienced in Australia, we reserve the right to
request a minimum rental period between certain locations. This is necessary
to ensure that clients enjoy their journey at a reasonable pace and to
minimise risk to the clients and the vehicle.
Late collection. No refund is payable if clients are late
to collect vehicles.
Extensions. Customers may extend the rental period after a
rental has commenced subject to availability and only with prior telephone
approval from the destination branch. Payments for such extensions are
required at the time of approval by credit card. Failure to gain
authorisation will incur a fee of $500.00 in addition to the daily rate.
Cancellation fees. If cancelled within:
25 days prior to vehicle collection: No fee.
24 - 7 days prior to vehicle collection: 15%.
6 days prior to vehicle collection: 50%.
No show: 100%.Office Hours.
Office hours are as follows, unless special arrangements are made a minimum
of 48 hours prior to pick-up or drop-off:
Mon - Fri 0800 - 1700 hrs.
Saturday 0800 - 1200 hrs.
Saturday after 1200 hrs, Sunday and public holidays by prior arrangement.
Payment
Cash (AUD), travellers-cheques, or credits card will be the only acceptable
forms of payment for all rental charges and bond payments.
The following credit/charge cards will be accepted: Bankcard, Visa, Diners,
Mastercard and American Express.
Destinations
One Way Rentals. A flat fee of $300.00 is charged for one way
rentals between any of our advertised branches. Note: An additional
surcharge of $500.00 is required for vehicles travelling one way to/from
Broome.
Unauthorised One Way Rentals will incur a minimum fee of
$500.
Customers are authorised to use our vehicles on all gazetted roads. We
reserve the right at our sole discretion to restrict vehicle movement into
certain areas due to adverse road and/or weather conditions. Clients will be
advised of such restrictions at the time of departure.
Change to Destination. Clients may change their final
destination after a hire has commenced subject to availability and only with
prior telephone approval from the destination branch. Payments for such
extensions are required at the time of approval by credit card. A fee of
$500 will apply.
Drivers
A minimum driver/renter age of 21 years is required.
Customers may use any valid, current (not provisional) Manual Vehicle
Drivers License issued by their country of residence or an International
Drivers permit.
Traffic Infringements. All speeding, parking and toll-way
fines, third party accident/damage claims and associated administration
costs will be passed on to the renter with an additional $50.00
administration fee.
Child Seats and Restraints
It is mandatory in Australia for young children to be seated in appropriate
seats when traveling in vehicles. Detailed requirements can be found at
www.roadsafety.net.au and www.transport.qld.gov.au
Child seat requirements are to be notified at time of booking.
Note: Baby and booster seats cannot be fitted to Land
Cruiser Troopcarrier (LCTC) or to the Hilux Dual Cab due to a lack of
suitable anchor points.
Single Vehicle Accidents
If a vehicle is not driveable as the result of a single vehicle accident a
replacement vehicle, when available, may be collected from the closest
branch.
If the customer requires a replacement vehicle to be delivered, associated
charges will be payable at the time of booking.
The customer is responsible for recovery of the original vehicle to the
departure branch and all associated charges.
If the renter is unable or unwilling to take a replacement vehicle, no
refunds for early termination of the rental agreement will apply.
No refund of rental days during vehicle changeover will be considered.
Any replacement vehicle will be subject to a new rental agreement and damage
waiver conditions.
Repairs
Repairs up to $200.00 may be undertaken without authorisation and will be
reimbursed on production of receipts. Prior authorisation is required for
repairs over $200.00.
Vehicle Damage Cover Conditions
The Customer is responsible for returning the
vehicle in the same condition in which it was hired. If the returned vehicle
has sustained damage the customer is responsible for the cost of repair to
and/or loss
Rental Conditions – Self Drive Holidays
of the Four Wheel Drive Hire Service vehicle.
(Subject to conditions and type of damage cover accepted by the Hirer).
Four Wheel Drive Hire Service rates include vehicle
damage cover, which is subject to the terms and conditions of the Four Wheel
Drive Hire Service Rental Agreement with the following exceptions:
a) All damage cover is void if the driver has been
under the influence of drugs or alcohol; is not a licensed driver; is not an
authorised driver; is under 21 years of age.
b) Drivers between 21 and under 25 years can purchase Collision Damage
Waiver only. However, this will only reduce liability for damage caused
other than a single vehicle. Single vehicle liability remains at a maximum
of $5,000.00.
c) Tyre damage of any description and or tyre replacement. Four Wheel Drive
Hire Service has sole desecration in regard to charging for tyre damage
and/or replacement.
d) All damage to the underbody; internal and external overhead; all internal
areas of the vehicle is at the hirer’s expense.
e) All water immersion damage to the vehicle will be at the hirer’s expense,
including vehicle recovery costs.
f) Any damage incurred to items being towed (ie. The vehicle cover of the
rental agreement will not cover Trailers). Any towing of trailers must be in
accordance with the allowable tow limits of the vehicle’s specifications.
g) There is no Collision Damage Waiver or Maxi Damage Cover available if the
vehicle is used on ‘unformed’ or ‘non-gazetted’ roads.
Note: Non-gazetted Roads are Roads/Tracks not
recognised by the Local, State or Federal Government Authority controlling
that area.
The hirer is responsible for ALL DAMAGE should the
vehicle not be used in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Rental
stated on the Rental Agreement regardless of damage liability.
Bond:
- A refundable bond of $2,000.00 is required if the Collision Damage Waiver
or Maxi Damage Option is not accepted at the commencement of hire. This bond
is paid on collection of the vehicle either by traveller’s cheques or
processed credit card.
- $600.00 credit card imprint is taken if Collision Damage Waiver or Maxi
Damage Cover
is accepted by the hirer at commencement of the rental.
- A refund will be processed if the vehicle is returned undamaged.

Collision Damage Waiver also covers minor damage
not exceeding $250.00 per incident and includes glass damage. Terms and
Conditions in relation to Maxi Damage Cover/Collision Damage Waiver are
provided at the commencement of hire and attached to the Rental Agreement.
A signature is required if client declines to
accept Maxi Damage Cover/Collision Damage Waiver at the time of signing the
Rental Agreement.
Agents please note: Additional Damage Cover is a
non-commission item.
NOTE: If Damage Cover Options 1 &
2 are not accepted:
Damage each and every occurrence, other than a single vehicle accident up to
$2,000.00
Damage each and every occurrence for a single vehicle accident up to
$5,000.00 Damage caused during use on unformed or non-gazetted road up to
$5,000.00
There is no Collision Damage Waiver or Maxi Damage
