About Australia (Sports)

Most of the skiing on the world's smallest continent is located on the southeastern mountain ranges along the border of New South Wales and Victoria. That is, more or less between Sydney and Melbourne. The island of Tasmania (in the lower right on the map) also offers some skiing, although with relatively short runs and variable snow due to the lower elevation.

The skiing in New South Wales is within Kosciusko National Park, home of Australia's highest peak. There is a fee of $12 per car per day to enter the park, and a season pass can be had for $60. Permits can be purchased at the park gates. The resorts of Victoria are spread across the Victorian Alps, at elevations lower than in New South Wales but providing similar conditions and snow quality.
