AIRPORT FACILITIES: Money and communications: There is a bank on the second floor of the terminal, whilst ATMs and bureau de change facilities exist on most floors. There is also a post office at the airport. Eating and drinking: The airport has many restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Shopping: There are newsagents, as well as a wide variety of shops offering souvenirs, gifts, medicines and duty-free. Other facilities: There is a medical clinic at the airport. A dentist is located on the second floor.

DISABLED FACILITIES: The airport has disabled toilets and lifts between floors.

CONFERENCE AND BUSINESS FACILITIES: There is a conference room and business centre on the fourth floor, which provides telephone, fax and Internet facilities, as well as PC rental, secretarial and catering services.

CAR HIRE: Car hire desks can be found on the first floor in the south area; companies include Japaren, Matsuda, Nippon, Nissan, Toyota and Orix.

CAR PARKING: The two multi-storey car parks directly access the passenger terminal; there are also two open-air car parks.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Road access to the artificial island on which the airport is built is via a dedicated access bridge (with a toll gate on entry), connecting to an expressway which serves all directions.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Water: Ferry: There are four sea ferry routes, from Kobe Port Island, Osaka (Tenpozan), Awaji Island (Tsuna) and Tokushima. An airport/ferry terminal shuttle bus service is available between the ferry terminal and passenger terminal every 7-10 minutes (journey time: 6-8 minutes). Rail: Train: Kansai Airport Station hosts an executive train service to Osaka Namba Station (journey time: 30 minutes) where connections to all local destinations including Kobe and Kyoto can be made; passengers should reserve in advance (tel: (0)724 566 282). Road: Taxi: Taxis are readily available outside the passenger terminal. Bus: Buses are available to all major hotels and surrounding destinations.

AIRPORT HOTELS: The Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport (tel: (0)724 551 111) is the only hotel on the airport island and is connected directly to the passenger terminal. There is a hotel reservation counter in Arrivals in Terminal 1F.
