The Mileage Plus® program was established in 1981 as a way to reward our frequent customers for traveling on United. Today, over 37 million members earn miles through a variety of activities practically every day, whether they are traveling or not. Mileage Plus members can now earn miles by flying United, United Shuttle®, United Express® or any of 18 global airline partners; by using Mileage Plus hotel, cruise, train and car rental partners; by charging purchases to the Mileage Plus Visa® or MasterCard® or United Travel Card^SM; by using MCI WorldCom^SM or our Mileage Plus Global Phone Card for phone calls; as well as by purchasing flowers, dining at selected restaurants, taking a vacation, or refinancing their homes with our special programs and partners, and more!

With so many ways to earn miles, Mileage Plus is perhaps the easiest way in the world to earn award travel. And with the combined network of United and our worldwide airline partners, you can choose from over 760 destinations on six continents when you're ready to exchange your miles for award travel. Your Many Ways to Earn Miles

Your first step toward award travel is earning miles. The following Earning Charts give you an overview of your mileage-earning possibilities with our Mileage Plus® partners.

Miles are earned for paid, qualifying flights only. Individual airlines may also exclude certain fares or flights, such as charter or code share flights operated by other airlines, from earning miles. Mileage is earned at hotels for qualifying stays at the published retail, corporate or other qualifying rates, as specified by the individual hotel. Mileage is earned for qualifying, paid car rentals as specified by the individual car rental company.

Mileage Plus Travel Awards

Mileage Plus® brings you six continents of award travel possibilities -- with more award destinations than you'll find with any other frequent flyer program.

Award travel must be on a valid United or partner flight routing exclusively between valid cities or continents described in the United and other airline partner Award Charts, with no connections or stopovers on additional continents (or cities, where appropriate). Travel on code share flights operated by other airlines is excluded. Routing and destinations for award travel on airline partners are determined by our individual travel partners.
