Air New Zealand is member of the Star Alliance. This is a group of airlines who work together to provide you with a worldwide network of flights connections and services. Among the other member airlines are Air Canada, Air Nippon, British Midland, Lufthansa, Mexicana, SAS, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, United Airlines and Varig.

The Star Alliance RTW airfare is specially created for Round the World travelers. You can use almost any flight of the member airlines and make maximum 15 stopovers en route. The price of your ticket depends on your voyage distance and number of stopovers (see table). You may compare it with the Global Explorer Airfare of the OneWorld Alliance.

 
Below you find our airfares for Round the World tickets from Amsterdam to the destination specified. The airfare are per person and valid for departure dates in the specified season. Conditions apply and Airfares may be changed by the airline without notice. Conditions:
  • Only valid for travel on flights of airline members of the Star Alliance, eg.
  • With a departure from Amsterdam, Brussels or Luxembourg, your journey must pass through London and take you as far as Australia. Your return journey must use a different route from your outward journey; Only 1x trans-Atlantic travel allowed; Only 1 international departure and arrival from/to country of origin is permitted
  • No restrictions on route directions - but voyage must start and commence in the same country; Backtracking is allowed but one city can only be visited once
  • Your entire journey may not exceed the mileage or number of stopovers as shown in the table above
  • Open Jaws (surface sectors) are allowed, but the distance of the surface sector is added to the mileage; The last point of arrival and the first point of departure together count as one stop
  • Upgrading of individual sectors not permitted; If business or first class is not available on a requested sector, passenger will travel in a lower class (eg. economy) without compensation
  • Stopovers:
    • Minimum of 3 stopovers must be made
    • Maximum of 1 stopover permitted in any one city
    • Not more than 5 stopovers allowed within continental USA / Canada
    • Not more than 3 stopovers allowed within Japan
    • Not more than 5 stopovers allowed within Europe and not more than 3 stopovers allowed in any one European country
  • Unlimited transfers allowed (these transfers count only as stopover if stop is voluntary or more than 24 hours); All other transfers will count as stopovers (unless exempt by further route restrictions)
  • Area restrictions:
    • The following six continents are considered:
      • Africa (incl. Middle East)
      • Asia
      • Europe
      • North America (Canada, USA [incl. Hawaii] and Mexico)
      • South America
      • Southwest Pacific (incl. Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Islands)
    • Canada & USA are considered one country
    • Travel between Central America and South America or North America is not considered trans-continental travel
  • Domestic flights are allowed
  • Excluding security surcharges and taxes
  • Infant discount 90% for baby's aged 0 - 1 years
  • Child discount 33% for children aged 2 -11 years
  • No other youth or senior discounts apply
  • Maximum stay en route: 1 year
  • Minimum stay en route: 10 days
  • Date changes are FOC; Routing changes 1x FOC, after that reticketing cost 150 euro per ticket, no refunds after departure
  • Airfare only valid in combination with pre-booked land arrangement
