Difference in Classes Frequent Flyers
Cathay Pacific
Frequent Flyers

Cathay has two loyalty programs in place for its frequent flyers, the Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles. So, what's the differance.

Marco Polo Asia Miles
Simple. The Club is an exclusive Loyalty Programme offering a wide range of benefits to our most valuable and frequent passengers. Asia Miles is our Travel Reward Programme, allowing members to earn Asia Miles towards free flights, upgrades and companion tickets.

The Marco Polo Club

For over 30 years, The Marco Polo Club (The Club) has ensured that Cathay Pacific's most valuable frequent flyers experience optimum comfort and convenience - before, during and after every flight.

Below, we will give you a brief overview of the many privileges  that Club members enjoy !

Exactly what benefits will I enjoy as a member of the Club?

There are four levels - or tiers - of Club membership, each based upon travel frequency.  As a new member of The Club you will automatically be enrolled as a Green Card member. Basically, the more you travel, the higher the tier you can reach - resulting in improved benefits. The four tiers are Green, Silver, Gold and Diamond.  As a Green Card member you can look forward to the following benefits:

  • Advance seat reservation
  • Preferred Check-in (designated Club counter)
  • Early Check-in (Hong Kong only)
  • Automatic membership of Asia Miles travel reward programme (where relevant)
  • 24-hour multi-lingual global Member Services Centre
  • And much, much more!

Tell me more about the tiers

To progress to a higher tier all you have to do is travel on Cathay Pacific or any oneworld alliance airline. The equation is simple: the more you travel, the higher the tier -  resulting in additional benefits and special privileges.  Upgrading to a higher tier and renewal of Club membership are based upon your travel patterns. For example- as you can see from the chart below - to upgrade from Green to Silver Tier, you will need 30,000 Club miles or 20 Club sectors, whichever comes first.

"What's the difference between Club miles and Club sectors?"

Generally speaking, if you tend to fly long haul then Club miles is the best way to maintain and upgrade your tier status within The Club. However, if you make frequent short haul trips it is more likely that you will qualify through Club sectors, as in the following example:

Asia Miles
Asia Miles allows you to earn miles doing exactly what you normally do-such as flying, staying at hotels, spending on your credit cards, and much more. The Asia Miles you earn flying with Cathay Pacific and other programme partners can be exchanged for free flights, upgrades and companion tickets.
