Cathay Pacific is the only major international airline to have personal televisions in every seat on every aircraft in its fleet. Cathay Pacific has been equipping its fleet with personal televisions in Economy Class since 1996.

Long Haul Seat Pitch
Cathay Pacific Economy Class seats have a seat pitch between 32 and 34 inches, the most generous among major carriers.

A choice of three hot entrées is offered as part of the meal service. Noodles and bun-wiches are also available throughout the flights to and from Europe, Australia and New Zealand as a light refreshment snack.

Special Meals

Special meals are available if requested a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Requests can be made through your travel agent or from any Cathay Pacific reservation office.  Special meals available include: Indian vegetarian, Strict Indian vegetarian, Western vegetarian, Strict Western vegetarian, Oriental vegetarian, Kosher Moslem, Hindu non vegetarian, Infant, Junior child and various medical diet meals.

Inflight Entertainment

A wide choice of inflight entertainment is offered with soundtracks available in up to eight languages (depending on the route). First-run movies are a regular feature in addition to TV documentaries, sports and comedy shows and the BBC World Service Radio News (BBC News available on B747-400 aircraft only).
Extras

A personal amenity kit is offered to all passengers onboard. Special children's amenity kits for three different age groups are also available.

Personal Televisions In Economy Class - Another First For Cathay Pacific

On the San Francisco to Hong Kong routes, A340-300 aircraft are equipped with six channel personal televisions in the seat backs for customer satisfaction.

Of course, PTVs are much more than merely television sets. They feature six channels of entertainment, including the hottest first-run movies, comedy from around the world, sports action, classic films, Asian programs and lifestyle shows. All in all, a well-rounded entertainment schedule and not a dull moment in sight.

Cabin Baggage

Each passenger (except for infant) is allowed to carry one piece of cabin baggage free, including any duty free goods. The cabin bag must not exceed 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm (22" x 14" x 9") in size and 5 kg (11 lbs) in weight.

In addition to their cabin baggage, passengers may carry onboard the following items: small handbag or purse, umbrella, walking stick, small camera or binoculars, and infant food for inflight consumption.  Baby buggies and adult wheelchairs have to be checked at the gate.

Business Class Improvements

What You See Is What You Get.

The enhancements, and their extent, have not been chosen at random. The decision to pursue quality reflects customers' wishes, says the company. "We have researched extensively what our passengers value... and it is clear that they want the best service, and the best value service, bar none."

For Business Class comfort, much of the credit goes to a simple trolley -- and the addition of new cabin staff hired to use them. Trials showed that it was possible to replicate a first class-style of service in the Business Class cabin if staffing levels were raised.

On many carriers, trolley service is the preserve of the First Class cabin. Even in many so-called mixed business and first class single cabin services, high, unviewable service selections mean the passengers can't see what they're getting. On Cathay Pacific, however, with a full choice of main courses, desserts, newspapers, magazines, headsets, and overnight kits displayed on its low, flat top, the trolley offers a seated passenger an inviting eye-level view of what's on offer. You can see your choice of meal before choosing it, whereas the alternative, an ungainly cart, has its contents hidden from view.

Cathay now has four, rather than three, choices of main course and two choices of dessert instead of one.

Crew Complements

In order to boost the crew-to passenger ratio, Cathay Pacific has hired an additional 150 cabin crew for its B747-400 fleet. On all the carrier's aircraft, Business Class has at least one cabin attendant for every 9 passengers, as opposed to the airline industry average of one for every 16 passengers. This enables crews to give you more personal attention and to serve you more promptly and less hurriedly.

The extra staff in the cabin are onboard to ensure Cathay Pacific's Business Class service is raised to a level that most carriers would consider more like First Class.

More Space

In addition to the new style of service, Cathay Pacific Business Class passengers on long haul flights are enjoying the luxury of more leg room. All the airline's Boeing 747-400 aircraft have a 50-inch seat pitch, whereas before it was 40-inch. This presents a 50 percent increase in actual legroom. Cathay's new A340-300s are also fitted with this generous 50-inch seat pitch.

More Personal Entertainment

Considering that it used to take several months on a ship to make the journey, a trip to Asia today is fast. But long-haul flights still take time.

Eating, sleeping and reading all help pass the time, but it is probably inflight entertainment--TV and audio--that has the biggest potential to make a flight enjoyable.

Thanks to the latest technology, you can enjoy a greater choice of inflight audio-visual programming. On long-haul flights there is usually 42 hours of unduplicated programming.

You can choose channels specializing in classic movies, comedy, blockbuster movies, art house movies, sport and Asian programming plus Cathay's own destination videos.

"The Bigger Picture"

"We've always had a Business Class that is a world leader," says Charlie Stewart Cox, Cathay Pacific's general manager for marketing . "It has entered a new dimension of excellence and continues to evolve. The standard of inflight service and facilities is consistent across every aircraft type, with extra long leg room on long-haul flights. But there is a larger range of inflight entertainment and cuisine to choose from, and that allows each passenger to create his or her preferred environment."

Cabin Baggage

First Class and Business Class passengers may in addition to the baggage allowance of Economy Class Passengers also carry one garment bag (no more than 20 cm (8") in thickness when folded in half and 5 kg (8 lbs) in weight) or one laptop computer.

First Class

Cathay Pacific First Class passengers enjoy an exceptionally high standard of service and comfort on board all our flights. First Class service offers an oasis of calm within the travel experience. From the first moment of check-in at the airport, all your needs are anticipated and met.

First Class Seating

First Class cabins are exclusive. Seats are configured to allow generous personal space with a seat pitch that ranges from 62 to 74 inches on long haul routes. When fully reclined, the reclining seat allows tall and short passengers to stretch out and sleep. Pure wool blankets and oversized pillows are provided for full comfort.

Telephone and Fax Service

Cathay Pacific has telephone and fax services on all aircraft. In First Class, two telephones are available for your convenience. Simply write fax messages on forms provided by flight attendants, or fax your own documents while inflight.

Food and Beverages

In addition to "haute-cuisine" style five-course lunch or dinner prepared with the finest ingredients from around the world, Cathay Pacific First Class also offers a refreshment menu. This means you may order meals to be served to you at your preferred times.

Refreshment menu choices range from light snacks such as sandwiches, to more substantial offerings such as Asian soups or hot entrées. Cathay Pacific's noodle service is also available throughout the flights to and from Canada.

Meals and drinks are served in elegant custom-designed glassware and crockery. Silver soup tureens, champagne buckets, serving dishes and cutlery are also in the airline's own special design.

Inflight Entertainment

Personal Televisions in the armrest of each seat offer you eight channels of entertainment, movies and TV features. Up to 22 different first-run movies are available each month and our TV features cover a wide range of topics, from humour to news and sports.

Extras

Collectable giveaways and mementos, from time to time; amenity kits for all passengers.
