Travel to and between the islands of American
Samoa is easy. For travel to the outer
islands of American Samoa -- that is, Ofu, Olasinga, and Ta'u -- the
lifeline is a small local airline called Samoa Air. Flying DeHavilland
DHC-6 Twin Otters carrying 18 passengers, these rugged, safe turboprop
airplanes fly to the outer islands as well as to Western Samoa several
times a day. Their faster, sleeker Beechcraft King Air flies a twice
weekly service to Vava'u (Kingdom of Tonga). |
