Tabua Class (Business Class)

Tradition
Air Pacific's business class is called Tabua Class. Tabua (pronounced Tam-Boo-Ah) has special significance in Fijian custom. The presentation of a tabua is a solemn, formal ceremony and is given only in very special circumstances. It is given as a token of appreciation to demonstrate loyalty, goodwill and respect. It can also be offered as appeasement in situations where all other methods have failed.

The tabua has played a role in Fijian culture before written records were initiated. Until the first visits of the whaling fleets, around 150 years ago, Tabuas were extremely rare. They were only obtained by the infrequent beaching of a whale or trade with the Tongans.

The promise made by presenting a tabua is a central theme of our business class service.

Planning

Air Pacific has sales offices located in most ports we fly to or is represented by a General Sales Agent. These offices are able to assist you in planning your trip, be it for yourself or a group and provide valuable advice and services including hotel reservations and car rental.

When making your reservations, please remember that this is the best time to request any special meals or assistance you may need.

Luggage

Tabua Class passengers are entitled to check-in 30 kgs of luggage, plus two pieces of cabin baggage, each not weighing more than 4 kgs. Travellers to and from North America are entitled to check-in two pieces of luggage, each no more than 32 kgs.

Checking-In

Tabua Class passengers are provided dedicated check-in counters at most airports, allowing rapid completion of formalities. Your bags will get a Priority Baggage Tag and will be positioned in the priority can. This will ensure that your bags are one of the first to be unloaded at your destination.
After completing check-in formalities and clearing customs and immigration, Tabua Class passengers are invited to use our Tabua Club Lounge in Nadi where you can enjoy all the facilities including a shower, the latest overseas magazines and newspapers, snacks and a complimentary full bar service. You are also eligible to enjoy similar facilities in selected airport lounges in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Los Angeles and Narita. You will be given an invitation for the specific lounge during your check-in.

Boarding

Give yourself enough time to go through immigration and customs and to browse through duty free.

At most airports, either announcements are made relating to departure or there are "live" departure screens at convenient locations with updated information on boarding status, boarding times and gate numbers.

Tabua Class passengers can board the aircraft at any time during the boarding process.

On Board

Your cabin attendant in charge is a senior person who has an average experience of eight years and has undergone specialised service training. They are selected according to their ability to provide discrete but complete attention to our Tabua Class passengers and are there to ensure your full comfort during the flight.

Before take off, your cabin attendants will offer you a cool drink of orange juice or champagne. You can wipe away your troubles with our complimentary hot or cold towel service. The towel service is repeated before and after the meals. You are also provided with a complimentary amenity kit in a genuine handcrafted "tapa" bag, in a choice of two styles, one of them representing a tabua and featuring Fijian made award winning exotic products such as sandalwood soap. Inside are all those handy little items that make it so easy to freshen up prior to landing. Face towel, tooth brush and paste. A clever combination hair brush and comb. Moisturiser for the ladies, and a shaver and cologne for the men. Should you want to take a nap, there's an eye-shade too. A wide range of newspapers and top business, sports and womens magazines are always within easy reach.

Our new B737-700 features the very latest ergonomically designed seats with adjustable headrests, providing excellent comfort and support. The headrests feature adjustable wings making sleeping a lot easier.
Soft blankets and pillows are available and are usually on your seat when you arrive on the aircraft for your use during the flight.
